the city of New York, who hbd been afflicted
with the Asthma for upwards of “TWENTY
YEARS;” and who after reading auch case* can

Nf.w York, January 25,1843.—I have been nf-
dieted with spasmodic asthma for twenty four
years—sometimes so severely as to bo confined to
my room lor weeks; and although attended by.va-
rious medical advisers, of the highest reputation
and skill in the country, the relief was but partial
and temporary—twice tho disease proved nearly fa-
tal to my life.

tacked with a pain aud severe soreness of the cheat,
which continued for a number of week*. I bad
previously for several years been subject to a per-
mnncnlweakness of the chest caused by a strain.
This last attack gave me much apprehension, as I
found it was the commencement ufa fatal disease.
About the middle of December I began to take

of Coopor’s Refitted American Isinglass, which
should’be fi.st soaked iii cold wutor for two hours;
dra.n off that water shell aka two qusrtsof cold
wutor, nua nnd a it If pounds of sugar, put in it
the white of three eggs, the juice of three good
-izod lemons, tho pent of one, a slick of cinnamon,
a littlo nutmeg, orange peal, or other spice to suit
the taste; stir all the ingredients well ogother while
cold, then boil tho whole masafouror five minutes,
nnd then pour it through a Jolly Bag. when it raav
bo put into glosses or moulds, and when cold, will
le lit fur use. The moulds should ho first wet with
