week, ending on tho 27th, of 27,000 bales, of which
speculators took 3,000, and exporters 5,000. The
market closed with a better feeling under a light
stook, which Is shown to bo only 77,000 bales—a re
duction of 65,000 bales, ovor corresponding period
lost year.

. Upon investigation Kossuth has been acquitted ot
all knowledge of the rocket affair, but be frankly ac

Lord Clarendon stated in the House of Lords that
tho Government was convinced that the maintenance
of the Turkish Emplro was necessary, but did not ap
prehend war.
It was believed that the Budget would pass the
Common's by a moderate majority.
An attempted insurrection at Weyburgh, Switzer
land, had been suppressed after a considerable loss of
life.
The Chinese rebels had captured Nankin. The
Government had bccomo greatly alarmed.
The English Commission to tho World’s Fair are
coming ovor in a frigate and war Bteamor.
