Tho Halifax papers of the 15tb, just at hand, state
that the French cruisers have driven off a British ves
sel from that part of the coast belonging to England.
It is believed that tho French are about to assert their
ancient rights. Tho present aspect of affairs serious
ly affects the whole fishery question. Two British
