the French and English fleets have offered their aid
to Turkoy. Gen. Gkakin had left Berlin on a special
mission to Constantinople. Austria also sends an
official upon a special mission.
' Tho King of Bavaria has offered to mediate between
AiiBtria and. Switzerland.
The latest advices from Turkey are not so favora
ble for peaco between that Government and Russia.
A messenger was sent by the Czar to the Porte in
vested with no discretionary power, but simply to
demand compliance with Menschikofl’s ultimatum
within eight days. Tho Turks have 40,000 choice
troops on their frontiers, with orders to attack the
Russians. Prussia and Turkey have organized a land
force of 40,000. Kristophia Pasha lias offered to raise
200,000. The Alblans, Turks, aud Greeks in Syria
and throughout the Empire are making voluntary
subscriptions in aid of their Government. The Uus-
siaus have not yet advanced on Prussia.
Ample satisfaction has been rendered by Greece to
the United States in the case of Mr. King.
Tho Austrian Deputies are considering a proposi
tion for tho redaction of tho import duty on cotton
one half.
The rumored recall of Canedo from Cuba, by Spain,
is contradicted.

Guinn nnd Representative McCormick, with rifles.

which the losses wore heavy.
The ship Jamestown, with advices from China to
the Gth of April, states that tho Rebels havo been re
pulsed from Nankin with immonso loss.
