city of Savannah and hamlets thereof In Council assembled. I
and it is hereby ordained by tho authority of the same.
That from ami after the passage of this ordinance, tlie city
bo, and It is hereby divided into four Dispensary Districts,
tho first to embrace nil that part of tho city bounded on
the north by tlie Savannah river, on the east by Jelfersou-
street continued totlio river, on the south by South Broad-
street and William-street, uud on the west by the corporate
limits ; the second to embrace all that part of the city
bounded on tho north by tlie rivor. on the east by tho cor
porate limits, on the south by South Brand-street continu
ed to tho corporate limit*, and on the west by Jcffmon-st.
continued to tho river ; the third to embrace nil that j»art
of tho city bounded on the north by William street nnd
South Ilrond-street, on the east by Jcil'crson-stiect continu

That there shall bu elected nt the first regular meeting of
Council after the passage of this ordinance, and annually
thereafter on the first regular meeting in July, a Ills-
ponsary Physician for each of said districts, whose dnty it
shall be to furnish the destitute sick within the limits of
his district with necessary medicine*, to give them medical
and surgical advice and attention, to visit them nt their
[ dace* of abode when necessary, to attend in person, nr
ly competent substitute, at their offices on every Monday
and Thursday, between the hours of 10 o’clock A. M. and 1
o’clock, P. SI., for consultation with out-door patient*, nnd
to keep always a competent supply of vaccine matter for
vaccinating the poor nnd to turnisli physicians, the lat
ter to pay n reasonable and proper price therefor.
See. 3. Bo it further ordained by tlie authority aforesaid,
Hint the said dispensary Physician* shall be considered,
held nnd taken ns officer* of tho city, and shall be liable to
the same penalties for non-performance or neglect of nny
of their official duties as are now prescribed in tlie case of
other city officers.
Sec. 4. Be it further ordained by the authority aforesaid.
Tlmt such Dispensary Physician before entering on the du
ties of Ids office shall take the oath prescribed for city ofll-
cers. and execute » bond with two securities in Hie penal sum
of one thousand dollar*, conditional for the faithful perform
ance of the duties of his office. Each Di*|ien*ary Physician
shall receive in full compensation for medicines and ser
vices. a salary of six hundred dollars per annum, payable
monthly.
