A HILL, to bo entitled an Ordinance to divide the city
Into four DUpeiwnry Districts, to provide for the elec
tion of a Dlsjiensary Physician for each of said districts,
and to declare the duties and fix the compensation of each
Dispeusury Physician:
Pec. 1. Bo it ordained by tho Mayor and Aldermen of the
city of Savannah and hamlets thereof in Council assembled,
and it Is hereby ordained by tlio authority of the samo,
That from and after the passago of this ordinance, the city
be. aud it is hereby divided Into four Dispensary Districts,
tho first to embrace all that part of the city bounded on
the north by the Savannah river, on the cast hy Jefferson-
street continued to tho river, on the south by South Broad-
street and William-street, and on the west by the corporate
limits ; the second to embrace all that part of the city
bounded on the north by the river, on tlie east by the cor
porate limits, on the south by South Broad-street continu
ed to tho corporate limits, and on tho west by Jefferson st.
continued to the river j the third to embraco nil that jiart
of the city bounded on the north by William street and
South Broad-street, on the east by Jellerson-street continu
ed to tbo corporate limits, on tlie south by the corporate
limits, ami on the west by the corporate limits; and the
fourth to embrace all that part of the city bounded ou the

the corporate limits, nnd on tho west by Jefferzon-stroet con

Sec. 2. Be it further ordained by the authority aforesaid.
Tliat there shall be elected nt the first regular meeting of
Council qftertho pu/xage of Ibis ordinance, and annually
thereafter on the Aral tegular meeting in duly, a Dis
pensary Physician for each of said districts, whoso duty it
shall lie to furnish the destitute sick within tho limits of
his district with necessary medicines, to give them medical
and surgical advice nnd attention, to vhit them at their
places of abode when necessary, to attend in person, or
by competent substitute, at their offices on every Monday
and Thursday, between the hours of 10 o'clock A. SI. and 1
o’clock. P. SI., for consultation with out-door patients, and
to keep always a competent supply of vaccine matter for
vaccinating the poor and to tarnish physician*, the lat
ter to pay a reasonable and propor price therefor.
Sec. 3. Bolt further ordained by the authority aforesaid,
Tliat the salt dispensary Physicians shall be considered,
held and taken ns officer* of tho city, nnd shall be liable to
the same penalties for non-performance or neglect of any
of their official duties as are uow prescribed in tho case of
other city officers.
See. 4. Be it further ordained by the authority aforesaid.
Tliat such Dispensary Physician before entering on the du
ties of his office shall take the oath prescribed for city offi
cers. nnd exccuto a bond with two securities In tlie penal sum
of one tlmusnnd dollars.conditional for Hie faithful perform
ance of the duties of his office. Each Dispensary Physician
shall receive in full compensation for medicines and ser
vices. a salary of six huudred dollars per snuum, payable
monthly.
Sec. 6. Be it further ordained hr tlio authority aforesaid.
Tliat all ordinances and parts of ordinances militating a-
gainst tliia ordinance lie. nnd tlie same are hereby repealed.
