Under tho act of Congress, approved 3d March 1863. en
titled "An act to extend pre-emption rights to certain lands
therein mentioned." the Pre-emption laws of the United
States as they now exist are extended over the alternate
reserved sections of public land* along the line of the rail-
road hereinbefore mentioned, where the settlement and Im
provement* were made prior to the final allotment of tbe at
ternate sections to the said railro .d. Therefore all claims
by pre-emption to anv of the alternate sections of public
lands within tho limits originally reserved will attach, if
? redicsted upon settlement* made prior to the4thFebruary
B53, tbe date of the final allotment.
Claims within the six miles limits must be proven np at
any time before the day herein fixed for the commencement
of publio sale, and are to be paid for at the rate or two dol
lars and fifty cents per acre. Claims outside of six miles,
and within the limit* of the original reservation, must be
proven up prior to the restoration of said lands to prirato
