Tho hull was of course darkened, os the exhibition required—tho audience had assembled, tho ticket mwter was nbout leaving bis post, when as reported bv him, this man Martin, entered, after observing him place bis pocket book in his side pocket, com menced the difllculty, and in the melee caught at his coat, tearing it entirely down from tho arms, but too fur behind, to touch tne pocket. Borne then came to his assistance, meanwhile Martin was taken off by his friends, and. screened from arrest. There wore no police in attendance, but some two or three indi viduals hnd imposed themselves upon Mr. Price as being such. No arrest we beliove, lias yet been mado, nor so far as we know, hasuny been attempted. To-day we perform this painful duty of recording the death of lour more of our residents from yellow fever. As mentioned in our last, with two exceptions, the disease has continued to coniine Its attacks to tbut portion of our pormlution who left town just previous to, or at the breaking out of the disease in Septem ber, and whose houses hail been closed during the greater pnrt of the time, and who had probable not taken sufficient precaution to have their houses open ed ; and their beds, carpets, clothing, &c., well dried ond sunned, previoxu to their return- Every person isawaro that, in this climate, even in houses nut closed, without a grout deal of care, the articles men tioned are apt to gather a large quantity of mill dew, mould, &c., which is of itself sufficient to render the atmosphere of a room impure, nnd to ercato sickness. None of those whoso houses were kept opened du ring their absense havo been attacked. There are some 10 or 12 new comers from other States, who re main healthy. And what is very unusual at this sec tion of tho year, wo do not hear’of a single caso of sickness on shipbourd. In regard to the two exceptions, wo state that one is a young child ; tho other an adult, who bad been for a week, day and night, constantly attending upon a sick family, in ono of the houses which had been during; the year 1850.
