The Lumber tuu»t be sound, free‘from large or rotten
knoti.cros* shake* aud generally of any imperfection* which
will materially affect it* strength, and be sawed straight
ami true to dimension*. A moderate amount of sap ou any
piece will nut be objected tu ; but alioka which are not
clear of bark will be rejected.
The Lumber must be aubjcct lo Inspection and Measure
ment after delivery at Fort Jefferson, by an agent of the
United States, appointed for the purpose, and will not be
considered as received until *uch inspection and measure
ment* shall haro beeu made.
At least 100.000 feet mu-t be shipped within one month
after the signing of the Contract, and an equal or greater
quantity must be delivered in each subsequent mouth, till
the whole la furnished.
Payments will be made iff! the delivery of each cargo, if
desired, twenty per cent being, however, deducted from
each payment, and retained till the whole is delivered, to
ensure the fulfilment of the contract.
Proposal* should state the price per M at which the Lum
bar will bo delivered at Fort Jefferson, free of all costa to
the l ulled States, and be delivered to the undersigned at
Key West. Fla., and endorsed ** Proposal for furnishing
Lumber."

caused by the rprelgn adfloes per Arctic. The sales
of the day were 11,600 bbls. Slate brands at 17.371 to
I7JS04 ; and 2,250 Southern brands at $7.62} to
I7.03|. A largo export demand exists for Oorn, with
sales for the day of 63,000 bushels at 81 to 83 cents. u|j
per bushel, being » slight advanco upon previous apply to
prices.
Cotton has declined |th, being mostly on Middling
and lower qualities. Tho salea of the day havo boon
1.000 bales. lu Rio Coffee, 0,600 bags sold at auction
at 10| to 11| ; and 100 bags at prlvato sale at 12 cts.
