articles enumerated in classes headed ‘'Sliscellaneous” are
specified as the probable quantity which uiay be required, as
well as to fix data for determining the lowest bid ; but the
contractor!* to furnish more or loss of snid enumerated ar
tides, and in such quantities ami at such time as the bureau
or commandant may require, (and requisitions sent through
the |tost office shall bo deemed sufficient notice.) during
the fiscal yoar eniliug 30tb of June, 1865 ; aud whether the
quantities required bo more or l>ss than those specified, tho
prices shall remain the same.
All the articles under the contract must be of the best
quality, delivered in good order, free of all and every extra
charge or expense, and subject to the Inspection, count,
weight, or measurement of the snid navy-yard, and he in
•11 respects satisfactory to the commandant thereof. Bid-
dors are referred to tho yanl for moreparticulardescription
of the articles. 4c. Contractors for classes headed ••Miscel
laneous'’ who do not reside near tlie place where the arti
cles aro to he delivered, will be required to name in their
proposals an agent at tho city or principal place near
yanl or delivery, who may bo called upon to deliver
tlcls when they shall bo required.

form to the schedule
Approved sureties in the full amount of the coutraet will
bo required, and twenty per centum as additional security
deducted from ench payment until tbe contract shall liave
boon completed or cancelled, unless otherwise authorized by

all rejected articles offered under the contract shall bav
been removed from the yard, unless specially authorized
by tbe Department.
It will be stipulated iu tbs contract that if default shall
be made by tlie parlies of the first part (n delivering all or
any of the articles mentioned of tlie quality and at tha
times and places above i rovided, then, and in that cose,
the said parties will forfeit and pay to the United States,
as liquidated damages, a sum of money equal to twice the
•mount or the contract-price herein agreed upon ae the
K lee to be paid for the articles in ease of the actual de-
rery thereof; which liquidated damage* may be mover-
• 1 from time to time a* they accrue.
