Indeed, very few arq the disease# In
whleh e purgative medicine is not
more or lea* required, and much sloknese end suffering
might be prevented. If e harmless but adSctOal cathartic
ware more freely naed. No person can feel well while a
cnative habit of body prevail# ; besides It soon generate*
acrious and often fetal diseases, whloh might have been
avoided by the timely end Jndloiona uae of e good purga
tive. Thla la alike true of oolda, reverlah aymptome, end
bllloua derangements. They ell tend to become nr produce
the deep seated and formidable distempers which toed tha
hearses all over the lend. Hence e reliable family physio
la of the Aral Importance to the publio health, and this pill
haa been perfected with consummate skill to meet that do
omed. An extensive trial of its virtues by phyalelana, pro
fessors, end patients, bee shown results surpassing any
thing hitherto known of any medicine. Cures have been
effected beyond belief, were they not substantiated by per
sons of such exalted position and character as to forbid the
suspicion of untruth.
Among the many eminent gentlemen who have testified
in fhvor of these Fills, we may mention :
Dr. A. A. Hayes. Analytloel Chemist of Boston, end State
Asseyer of Massachusetts, whose high professional charac
ter is endorsed by the—
Hon. Edward Everett^Senator ot the United States.
RobertO. Wlnthrop, Ex Speaker of the Houae of Repre
sentatives.
Abbot Lawrence, Minister Tien. to England.
f John B. FHapatrick, Catholic Biahop of Boaton ; alao,
Dr. J, R. Chilton Practical Chemist of New York City,
endorsed by
Hon. W. L. Mercy, Secretary of State.
Wm. B. Astor. the richest men In America.
H. Leland 4 Co., proprietors ef the Metropolitan Hotel,
end otbera.
Did space permit, we could give many hundred certl flee tea
from all pari* where the Pills have been used, but evidence
even more convincing than the oxperiencoof eminent pub
lio men, Is found in their effects upon trial.
These Pills, thereeultof leng Investigation end study, are
offered to the pnblio ee the best end molt complete which
the present state of medical science can afford. They are
compounded not of the drugs themselves, but of the med
icinal virtues only ofVegetablefrem dies extracted by chem
ical process in e state of purity, end combined together in
such e manner as to insure the best results. This nrstem
of composition for medicine* has been found in the Cherry
Pectoral end Pills both, to produce e more efficient reme
dy then had hitherto been obtained by any process. Th*
reason i* perfectly obvious. While by the old mode of
composition, every medicine la burdened with more or less
of acrimonious qualities, by thla each individual virtue
only that is desired for the euretive effect I* present. All
the Inert end obnoxious qualities of each substance em
ployed ere left behind, the curative virtues only being re
tained. Hence it Is self-evident the effects should prove ea
they have proved more purely remedial, end the Pills a
surer, more powerful antidote to disease than any other
medicine known to the world.
As il Is frequently expediont that my medicines should
be taken under the counsel of an attending Physician, end
ash* could not properly judge of e remedy without knowing
ita composition, I have supplied the accurst* Formulae by
which both my Pectoral end Pills ere mode to the whole
body of Practitioners in the United States end British
Araorioan Provinces. If however there should be any onrt
who lies not received them, they will bo promptly forward
ed by mnll to hla requost.
Of ell the Patent Medicines that are offered, how few
would be taken if their composition was known I Their
lire consists In their mystery. I have no mysteries.
The composition of my preparations is laid open to all
men, end ell who ere competent to judge on the subject
freely acknowledge their convictions of tneirintrlnsic mer
its. The Cherry Pectoral was pronounced by scientific men
to be a woderful mouiclne before its effects were known.
Many eminent Physicians bev* declared the same thing of
my Pills, and even more confidently, and ere willing to cer
tify that their anticipations were more then realised by
their effects upon trial.
Thoy operate by their powerful influence on the internal
