AYER’S PILLS.
A now and singularly successful
remedy for tha cure of all bilious die.
eases—oostlvonesa,indigestion drop
sy, Jaundloe, rheumatism, fevers,
gout, humors, nervousness. Irrita-
ollity, inllauimatlons. pains in the
breast, side, back and Uinbs, hoad-
ache, female complaints, etc.,etc.;
Indeed, wry few are th* disease* in
— which a purgative medicine U not
more or less required, and ranch sickness and suffering
might be prevented, If a harmless but effectual cathartic
were more freely used. No person can feel well while a
ooative habit of body prevails ; besides It soon generate*
serious and often fatal diseases, which might have t«en
avoided by the timely and judicious use or a good purga
tive. This Is alike true of cold*, feverish symptoms, and
bilious derangements. They all lend to become or produce
tho deep seated and formidable distempers which load the
hearses all over the land. Hence a reliable family physic
la of the first Importance to the public health, and this pill
has been perfected with consummate skill to meet that de
mand. An extensive trial of ita virtue* by physician*, pro-
feasors, and patients, has shown results surpassing any
thing hitherto known of any medicine. Cures have been
effected beyond bollef, were they not substantiated hy per
sons of such exalted position and character as to forbid the
suspicion of untruth.
Among the many eminent gentlemen who have testlOed
In fhvor of these Pills, we may mention :
Dr. A. A. Hayes. Analytical Chemist of Boston, and Stale
Assayer of Massachusetts, whose high professional charac
ter Is endorsed by the—
Hon. Edward Everett. Senntor ol the United States.
RobertO. Winthrop, Ex Speaker of the House of Repre
sentatives.
Abbot lawrence, Minister Pleu. to England.
tJobn B. Fitzpatrick, Catholic Bishop of Boston ; also,
Dr. J. R. Chilton Practical Chemist of New York City,
endorsed by
Hon. W. L. Marcy, Secretary of State.
Win. D. Actor, the richest man In America.
8. Inland ft Co., proprietors of the Metropolitan Hotel,
and others.
Did space porinit, wu could give many hundred certllloate*
from all parts where the Pills have been used, but evidence
eveu more convincing than tlie experience of eminent pub
lic mon, is found In their effects upon trial.
Those Pills, the resultof Irug Investigation and study, are
offered to tlie public as tho best and most complete which
tho present state of medical science cun afford They are
compounded not of the drugs themselves, but of the mod-
iolnal virtues only ofVegotablejrrm dies extracted by chem
ical process In a state or purity, and combined togother in
aucli a manner ns to Insure the best results. Tills system
of composition for medicines has been found in the Cherry
Pectoral and Pills both, to produce a more efficient reme
dy than had hlthorUi been obtained by any process. Tho
reason is perfectly obvious. Wliilo by the old mode of
composition, every medicine is burdened with more or less
of acrimonious qualities, by this each individual virtue
only that is desired Cor the curativu effect i» present. All
the inert and obnoxious qualities of each substance em
ployed at* left behind, the curative virtues only being re
tained. Hence it is self-evident the effects should prove as
they have proved more purely remedial, and tlie Pills a
surer, more powerful antidoto to disease than any other
medicine known to the world.
As it is frequently expedient that my medicines should
be taken under the counsel of an attending Physician, and
a* ho could not properly judge ofa remedy withoutknowlng
ita composition, I have supplied tlie accurate Formulas by
which both my Pectoral and Pills are inode to tlie whole
body of Practitioners in the United States and British
American Provinces. If however there should lie uny one
who has not received them, they will be promptly forward
ed by mail to Ids request.
Of all the Patent Medicines that are offered, how few
would bo taken if their composition was known ! Their
life consists in their mystery. I have no mysteries.
Tlie composition of my preparations is laid open to all
men, and all who are competent to judge on the subject
freely acknowledge their convictions of their intrinsic mer
its. The Cherry Pectoral was pronounced by sclentlUc men
to be a woderiul meuicine before it* effects were known.
Many eminent Physicians have declared the same thing of
my Pills, and even more confidently, and are willing to cer
tify that their anticipations were more than realized by
their effects upon trial.
They operate by their powerful influence on tho internal
viscera to purify the blood and stimulate it iuto healthy
action—remove the obstructions of the stomach, bowels,
liver, and other organs of the body, restoring their irregu
lar action to health, and by correcting, wherever they ex
ist, such derangements as are the first origin of disease.

Their power over the above diseases Is not excelled, ll
equalled, by any other preparation in the United States, ns
the cures attest. In many cases aflerskilful physician* had

These Ritters are worthy the attention of Invalids. Poa
sensing great virtues in the rectification of diseases of tho
