“Old Line Whig” Meeting*
Washington, June 22.—There was n meet
ing last evening of the Whig party to consult
on tho course tit to be pursued during the com
ing pres .deutial election. Them was present a
large and promiscuous assemblage, Mr. Seaton
of the National Intelligencer ucted as chairman.
A member of the K. N. party was proposed as
Secretary, which proposition occasioned great
eoufuslou. and showed that the organization
was largely K. X. iu the ascendency, and but
lew Old Ltue Whigs present, who kept aloof
from all the parties.
Senator Jones, of Tcnn., spoke in favor of a
distinct organization, and ibr acting as allies to
the party, they may agree to support.
Mr. Campbell, of Ohio, made a speech avow*
iug himself a member of tho real Know-Nothing
party.
A committee reported resolutions recommend
ing that the Convention proposed by the Ken
tucky Whigs, bo postponed to the lust Wednes
day of July, and that nil sections should send
delegates to deliberate ou the proper course to
he adhered to during the present political crisis.
The resolutions were adopted and the meeting
adjourned. ' '
Mr. Campbell, B. R. Ac., of Ohio, determined
toVaj something more in response to a K. N.
vail. He jumped up and was blowing forth
Know Nothliigism from stern to idem, when
some of the Whig party very quietly turned oil
the gas. and all was darkness and black repnb-
icanum. There was great confusion, us all
seemed of one color and in a big scuffle, row
and uproar this grand assembly separated.
