It is gratifying to the proprietor ol these medicmta
to be able to state that it ft now nearly three rears
since they were first Introduced, during which time
they have been extensively used in various parts of
tbo United States, and bare given to patient and
practitioner the highest degree of satisfaction in the
various cases in which they have been employed;
.whether in town, country, hospital or private prac
tice, they have Invariably given the most decided
and unequivocal satisfaction, and produced the most
salutary and beneficial effects. Numerous letters
have been received from tbe most distinguished
physicians in the country, and from tbe professors
of several medical colleges, recommending is the
highest terms the value ot, these medicines, and
their superiority over all other preparations for
such complaints as tbe proprietor recommends.
Numerous preparations of Sarsaparilla and of Buchu
and various modes of preparing them have been
given, all of which of course will differ according to
the mode of preparation which each individual may
adopt.
These medicines require considerable care in th
preparation and the employment of different men
struain successive operation to take up the extrac
tive matters, and, in consequence, are most fre
quently improperly made, and not unfrequentiy
touch impaired, if not rendered totally inert, by the
injudicious and unskilful management of those unac
quainted with pharmaceutical preparations. u 'a
therefore of tbe highest consideration and import
ance to the public and to the faculty that there
should be standard preparations ot uniform strength

and obviate tbe evil alluded to, I have made a num
ber of experiments to ascertain the most effectual

resulted most favorably, and it ft with much pleas
