city, was a safe oi
the above descriptions
containing the books, papers, and money of Mr.
Thomas, and although tbe building was detroyed,
the said Safe sustainod no injury whatever from the
intense heat to which it had been exposed. On open
ing the Safe, the contents were found undisturbed,
and in the same order and condition a> when placed
there, except a slight discoloration to the projecting
ends of a few papers, and the bucks of one or two of
the books, caused oy the steam generated in the
Safe, while at its greatest beat.
The Safe and contents, as it came from the ruins,
may still be seen, in the possession of Mr. Thomas,
at tho Gas Works. A large assortment of these cele
brated Safes always on hand,and for sale by

confidence that parents who ontrust their daughters
to Miss Eastman will have no reason lo regret it.”
Miss Eastman will he aided by an efficient corps
of Teachers.
The French language wiil be taught and spoken
by a Parisian lady, residing in tbe family.
The Latin, German, hpauisbund Italian languages
will receive due attention.
The Natural Sciences will be taught, with the aid
of a large and expensive apparatus.
The Musical Department will be uuder the charge
of a tody eminently qualified to Uil the situation; and
all preferring a male teacher on the Piano or in
Singing, can have the benefit of a Visiting Teacher
from Philadelphia.
Drawing aud Painting will be under the direction
of a lady accomplished in the art.
The number of pupils is limited to forty.
The Terms for Board and Tuition iu all tho branch
es except Music, are $160 per session of five months.
