containing the books, papers, and money of Mr.
Thomas, and although tho building wag detroyed,
the said Safe sustained no injury whatever from tho
intense heat to which It bod been exposed. On open
ing tho 8afe, the contents were found undisturbed,
and in the same order and condition as when placed
there, except a slight disuuluraUou to Uiu projocllug
ends of a few papers, and tho backs of one or two of
the books, caused by the steam goucratod in tho
Safe, while at ita greatest heat.
The Safe and contents, as it came from the ruins,
may still be seen, in the possession of Mr. Thomas,
it too Gas Works. A large assortment of those oelo-

for her use will contain every accommodation. The
village and surrounding country are distinguished
for healthfolness and beauty, and Iho subscriber has
confidence that parents who entrust their daughters
to Miss Eastman will havo no reason to regretlt.”

The Frenoh language will bo taught and spoken
by a Parisian lady, residing In tbo family.
The Latin, German, Spanish and Italian languages

The Natural Sciences will bo taught, with the aid
of a large and expensive apparatus.
Tbe Musical Department will be under tho charge
ofa lady eminently qualified to fill the situation; and
all preferring a male teacher on toe Piauo or in
Staging, can have the benefit of a Visiting Teacher
from Philadelphia.
Drawing and Painting will bo under tbe direction
of a lady accomplished in the art.
The number or pupils is limited to forty.
