Smith, we nave every reason to expect that quiet'aud security wiU.be secured to the terri tory during this week.’ Undoubtedly, if any of the parties uow in arms in the territory attempt to resist the civil and military authorities in the measures now proposed, it will be Gen. At a Kansas meeting held at this place on the 16tb Sept., Mr. Alexander C. Scott, was called to the chnir, and A. S. Atkinson request ed to act Secretary. In response to inquires of the chair, asking an explanation of the object of tiro meeting, Capt. D. S. Clinch, offered the following resolu tions me ago for the purpose of testing one of Sarren s Fire and Waterproof Room. Noth- ig could have convinced os, but being an ac- ual eye-witness of the success of this trial that ny roof would withstand the very severe test ppliea on this occasion. A small house pre- wed of wood was erected and covered with bis rooflngjost before thl experiment took entirely enclosed and filled with umbustibles; a fire was kindled at about 3.20 id allowed to bum till 5, when the roof fell to ‘®§wund whole and to all appearances train ed though it bad been perfectly enveloped ltt Hues nearly the whole time and the roof ot - - Jids were burned to a coal—everything else ^mpietely consumed. Although the meeting was small, there was paid into the Chairman, under Gen.
