Whereas, from the Increased commerce ortho
port of Savannah the duties or tho Health Officer
lias greatly increased, and the salary tins not been
creasod during tho last thirty year*:
Bee. 1. Be it ordained by tbo Mayor and Alder
men of tho City of Savannah aud tho Hamlet* there
in in Council as embied, aud tt la hereby ordained
by tho authority of tbo same, That from and after
ibo passage of this Ordlnonco the salary (ff the
Health Officer bo at tho rate of five hundred dol
lars.
Sec. 2. Bo it further ordained by the Mayor uud
Aldormcn or tbo City ol'Savanualuaml tho Hamlet*
thereof in Council assembled, aud it Ib hereby or-
dalued by authority of the same, That tho foe* of
the Health Officer (which shall be paid by tbo
owner, master, or consiguco of any vessel) shall
be as follows:
For boarding any vessel lying at the quarantine
ground, at Fori Jackson, two cents a ton up to 600
tons, beyond which us additional fee shall be
charged. Iu case of a visit at night the fees charged

For visiting and inspecting a vessel which has
