On Thursday lad his Majesty’s sloop Zephyr, Capt. Ha

OHtjRSDAY lad the Rev. Mr. George White
field arrived at New-York, from Bodon in his
way to this city, and is soon expeded here. ‘
July 5. Friday lad arrived here Capt. Clax
ton from Turks-Island who informs us, that a
bout the firft of June, a French man of war of
70 guns, a zebeck of 26 guns, a brig and two (loops, arrived
there, and took him ana eight othertloops then at Turks-
Island getting fait, and also took prisoners all the people on >
(hore making fait, burnt their hutts, destroyed their liquors
they had, See. then carried all over to the Sand Key; from.
whence they sent the (loops and all the people to Cape Fran- *
cois, and after detaining them about 30 hours oufiered them *
oIH of the harbour, and the people who had been making
filberts font to a vessel to Bermuda. The man of war pr - *

A PROCLAMATION ispublilhed in the Pennsylvania
news papers of the 12th inst. by his Honour Lieut.
Gov. Penn, in the following premiums are offered
for the prisoners and scalps of enemy Indiaus taken within
the bounds of that province, or in pursuit from within the
bounds thereof, to every person not in the pay of the pro
vince, viz. For every male above ten years old, delivered at
any fort garrisoned by troops in the province pay, or to the
keeper of any common goal, Ijo pieces of eight; for every
female and male of. ten years of age or under, 130 pieces of
eight; for the scalp of every nfcle above ten years of age, 134
piece's of eight; and for the scalp of every female above that
age, 50 pieces of eight. Soldiers, Sec. in pay are intitled
to a half of these sums for the like services.
