thdt the court was not even called together to conl'ulfe about

There is now no room for further delay: we therefore ex

that such fcverities Will prove detrimental to Great-Britain*
upon which account we have reason to hope that ap

that renders them beneficial to the mother country: our trade

Great-dri tain, and iri return for man u failures affords her’
fiiore ready calh, beyond any comparison, than possibly can be

the revenues of the mother country, while we are labouring
for a very mdderate subsistence for ourfelvcs. But if our trade

fered to remain, .we (hall be so far from being able to take off
the manufactures df Great-Britain, that it’ will be fedree pof;
fible for us taearni our bread—But what still heightens our
apprehenfioos is, that these unexpected proceedings may be
preparatory to new taxations upon us: tor if our trade may
be taxed, why not our lands, every and thing wepoflefs or

to govern and tax our/elves.—lt strikes at o’ur British privi

Common-with our~lelibvv fubjects'whoard natives of Britain:
if taxes are laid upon us in any Ihape without our having a
legal representation where they are made, are we’ not re

We therefore earnestly recommend it to you to.ufe your

Philadelphia, June zi ßy from Cumberland

Ne-xu-Tirk , July 1. The following is an extract of a let-*,

18 companies of the militia, amounting to about icoomen,
were reviewed at Mr. Brant's, about a mile above Fort Hen

tained them with a large ox and a number of Ihcep roasted
whole, and gave them a barrel of rum to drink his Majefty’a
health. There were a number of Indian? present, among t
whom were (bine of the Senecas, who.on their return home,*
will tell their people, that the Englilh are coming in-vast
bodies towards the frontiers; this will undoubtedly have a.-
good effeft, in engaging them to keep firm and steady to
their late convention with Sir William, fearing that these
people (hould march against them in case of a revolt. Ye
sterday evening Sir William set out fer Niagara, accompa
nied by his son-in-law, Mr. Guy Johnson, and John Dun
can, Esq. of Scheae&ady, with 30 of the chiefs and moft
noted warriors df the lower castles of the Mohawks, who in
filled on accompanying Sir William’s person in particularin*
his voyage. They fang the war songs, and danced, taking
Sir William by the hand with the moft convincing proofs of
their attachment.”
