BHEREAS it is jail and necefTify, v tkt 4 revenue be railed in America, kmt defray ing the expences of defending and pro tecting, and (bearing the fame. From and after the 29th Sept. 1764, the following rates and duties (hall take place on the several species of foreign goods# here enumerated, imported into my of his Majefly's plantations in America, viz. * On foreign white or clayed fagars 11. as. per Cwt. [be (ides the former duty of ss.] Ditto Indico 6d. per lb. Ditto Coffee 2l* 19s. 9d. per Cwt. Wine the growth of the Madeira*, Or of any other place from which the fame may be lawfully imported, 71. per ton. Portugal and Spanilh wines, imported from Great-Bri tain, 1 os. per ton. Wrought silks, Bengals, and fluffs, mixt with silk or berba, from ditto, 2s. per lb. . Callicoes from ditto, 2s. 6d. per piece* Cambricks from ditto, 3s. per piece. . French lawns from ditto, 3s. per piece* Coffee and Pimento of the growth of the British Colonies, exported from thence to othpr places, except Great-Britain, Coffee 7s. per Cwt. Pimento one halfpenny per lb. The Afi 6 George ll* (forth* better feenring and encou raging the trade of his Majefly's sugar colonies in America) (hall continue in force till the 30th of Sept. 1764; after which it (hall be perpetual, fubjett to the alteratiqns following: Foreign melaffes and syrups imported into the British co lonies, mall pay 3d. per gallon [infleadof 6d. as heretofore, which was (elaom or ever paid; but much of those com modities daily fmuegled.j The importer refuting to pay the duties on wines, the of ficer (hall seize the fame, and publickly fell them to the bed bidder, and dedu& the duties and charges. If they shall not bring fufiicient to pay the duty and charges, they shall be (laved and fpilt. . The monies anting by the several duties before granted, and upon sugars, shall be paid into the Exchequer; and be reserved towards defraying the charges of protecting the B/itifh colonies in America. The exporter of wines from this kingdom to the British colonies in America shall be paid a drawback of the duties on importation; except il. 10s. per ton, granted by the ad of the lad session; and alio the aliens duty: he fird giving bond and ftcurity for the due exportation and landing of the fame, conditioned to produce a certificate thereof from the proper officer within 18 months. No part of the old fubfidv shall be repaid for any fo reign goods exported as aforefaid; except for wines, white callicoes, andmufiins; and upon the exportation of white callicoes or muslins, neither the moiety of the old subsidy, nor the third part of the nett duties thereon, granted by Ad 11 and 12 William 111. and 3 and 4 Anna;, mall be repaid; but until ift March, 1765, upon exportation offuch white callicoes and muslins as were fold on or before 25 March preceeding, at the India-House, the lame drawbacks shall be allowed as are now payable. Where goods enteral for exportation to parts beyond the seas, in order to obtain a drawback not allowed by this ad, shall be carried to any British plantation in America, such drawback shall be forfeited, and double the amount thereof# with*treble the value of the goods. The officer (hull grant the mi- * fter of the vessel a certificate thereof; and shall transmit aco*. py offuch affidavit to the secretary’s office for the colony, on penalty of 51. On arrival of the vessel at the port of difeharge, the ma ffier shall deliver the certificate to the proper officer, ai.d nuke oath of the identity of the goods, on penalty of tool.and goods found on board not certified for, Ac* shall pay foreigu du s. • Where any foch goods, not included in the certificate, mail be imported without intending a fraud, they may be admitted to entry, jpaying the ufualduties. Bond and fecunty shall be given pursuant to the aft it Car* 11. in case of taking on board any vessel in the planta tions, any goods not enumerated; and that in case any fo reign melaffesand syrups be taken<on board, the.fame shall be brought to foine Britifn plantation in America, or to Great- Britain; of which report shall be made at the port of arrival. Non*enumerited goods laden on board without bond given shall be forfeited with the vessel. The master, before failing from the port of lading, shall take a certificate of his having given bond; which, upon com pleating his voyage, he shall deliver up at the port of difeharge, on penalty of tool. Britifn vessels with any British American goods, or fo reign melaffes or syrups, difeovered near thcßritiih American coafls, not producing a certificate as required by law, or not producing one at the port of arrival, (nail be forfeited. The bond for non-enumcrated goods shall be in force for one year after the voyage; when, if 110 fraud appear, it shall lie given up. Coffee, and other enumerated goods of the British Ameri can plantations, shall be imported under like fecuritits and penalties, as these in alls 12 and 25 £ar. 11. Bond and security shall be given before lading any iron or lumber of the British American plantations, conditioned tp land the fame, if for Europe, in (jreat-Briuin ; and to pro duce a certificate thereof within 18 months; anti if for anyr of the British American plantations, within 6 months; and if for any other place ia America, Africa, or Atia, within. 12 months. Where the goods perish or are taken, the bond shall be difeharged. No goods (hall be (hipped in one British colony to be car ried to another, without a fufferance, and taking out a proper cocket; which shall be produced at the port of difehargr, on forfeiture of the goods. The goods shall alfobe forfeit ed if they do not agree with the cocket. A vessel difeovered near the coast shall be (loot; and the goods, for which no cocket is produced, shall ne seized. No vessel shall be cleared out for any of the British colo nies in America, unless the whole careo be (hipped in the kingdom; and where any European vcilel is difeovered near such coafls, the goods for which no such cocket is produced shall be seized; fait, Madeira wines, Ac. horses, provifiorrs. or linens from Isdand, excepted. The penalty on counter feiting, Ac. any affidavit, or certificate, mail be fool. Foreign vessels found at anchor, or hovering on the coafls of any of the British American dominions, ana not departing unless distressed, within 4?hours after notice, fhal! be for feited, together with the goods, except French fifhing vefleU off Newfoundland,
