AW 15. This week several journeymen blue-makers
were engaged far Carolina, where we are informed this ma
nufacture is to be carried on in a very extensive manner.
We are credibly informed, that by virjueof the dilcretio
nary powers lately committed to his Majcfty’s commanders
in the Weft-Indies, in calc of any future infuit, reprizals
are to be made on the fubje&s of such powers who have been
guilty 1 where effects thus seized, are to be condemned by
a court martial, and fold till full fatisfa&ion is madd to the
Fartiet injured, the balance, if any, to be remitted to the
reach or Spanifti governor at the nearest port.
Letter} from Warsaw, of the Bth ult. relate the following
particulars of the late sudden irruption of the Prussian hussars
into great Poland, as authentick, viz. Capt. Farmelli, who
commanded the detachment, rushed unexpectedly, with his
men, sword in hand, into the lands of Prince Sulknwiki,
General in the fcrviceofthc Empress Queen; disarmed his
guard at Zduny, and took away what persons he thought pro
per : in the mean time other (mail parties of huflars poilef
fed thcmfelves of the avenues of Kobolin, D*o!anew, Szui
mierzyn, and the adjacent villages; from whence they car
ried off by force, M. Kofchenbahr, Com miffary of Often,
with a number of burghers and other inhabitants, who were
‘born indeed in Silesia, but had been fettled in Poland many
years; and all wihout paying any difference to age or rank.
These detachments, loon after the above tran faction s, retired
from grand Poland. *
It is said the ftheme of opening a very lucrative trade to

We arc credibly informed, that the final purchase of the
Isle of Mao to the crown, is now upon the carpet.
AW. 17. It was this morning reported, that certain ad
vices had been received of the death of the old Chevalier dc
St. George at Rome.
It is again aiferted, that the Earl of Bute will be appoint
ed Lord Chamberlain.

HN Thursday latl arrived two officers from our
army to the Southward under command of Col.
Bouquet, by which opportunity we have the fol
lowing intelligence.
Camp at the Fmrit of Mujiiagbam % AVr. 16.
** The army arrived at this camp on the 25th of October,
being in the centre of the Delaware towns, and near to
Wakatemihe, the mod confidcrable fettlcment of the Sha
wanefe; and matters had been so managed with the savages,
that we remained mailer of the conditions we had to pre
scribe to them, infilling on the delivery of all their prisoners
before any terms of peace (hould be proposed. The Dela
wares and Mingoes, and fome broken tribes of Mohikos
and Wyondotts, were firil entirely reduced, and submitted to
the reiloring all their prisoners without exception : in con
sequence of which the hlingoes, and Delawares, Ac. deli
vered up all their prifoncr*, even to their own children born
of the white women ; which lull wa* peremptorily infilled
spoo t and may be confidcrcd as a llrong proof of their fin*

ccrity and humiliation. They have likewise given 14 of
their chiefs as hollatn into our hands, for the security of
the performance of their engagements, and that no koft pi
ties Ihou Id be commuted; and likewise agreed to fend de
puties from each nation to Sir William Johnlbn, properly
authorized to make peace, engaging to iatisfy all the con
ditions that (hould be imposed upon them. The Shawanefe
were more oblUnate, and retufed to submit to the fame con
ditions, (hewing a particular aversion to the giving of holla.
§es: the army was on the point of coming to extremities ;
ut meeting with a firmnefs that daggered them, and being
properly talked to, they found thcmfelves obliged to lloop
to the fame conditions as the other nations. They immedi
ately delivered up 40 prisoners, and have given fix of their
principal chiefs as hostages for the delivery of the remainder
of their captives. Parties were sent to their towns to infill
in colle&ing them, and bringing them to Fort Pitt; and the
Shawanefe are then to fend deputies to Sir William John fan,
to fettle the peace, in the fame manner as the rett. The
number of prd'oners already delivered exceeds aoo, and ma
ny more are expected from the Shawaneie; several of them
had remained fa many years with the Indians, as to become
as avage as themselves, and the Indians were obliged to
tie them to bring them to the army.**
Soften. Dec . 17. We hear that a small fcfiooncr, tender to
the Maidftone frigate which lately failed from hence for
Rhode Iflaod, foundered near the South Shoal of George's
bank, in fight of said (hip, bat the wind blew fa violently
they could afford her no afitrtancc, and the crew, 12 in
number, all pcrifticd.
Dec. 20. A gentleman in Marlborough fentg quarter of
mutton to his friend io town a few dap ago, which weighed
251 b. The four quarters of the (beep after it was killed
weighed 901 b. 241 b. rough ullow. The (herring lall I'ummer
was 5 jib. wool; and the pulled wool upon the fleece 4jib.
in the whole lolb. This was a weather, and acoftit, worth
to the owner 1 81. Old Tenor. A good encouragement for
the keeping of lheep.
CbmrhftexL'n. Sene h-Carolina, January 18. A number of
gentlrmen in New-York, after the example of London, £-
dinburgh, and Dublin, have formed themselves into a fact
ety by (he name of fir Society for promoting Arte, Agree niton,
and Ociimerntf im the Province of AnwfirJ in AVr/A America.
They have appointed committees for Arts, Agriculture,
fehemes of Occonorov, and for Correspondence. Great ad
vantages are ex petted* from this publick fpiriced undertaking.
The quantity of hemp railed in this province which re
ceived the bounty in 1763 was more than double of what re.
ccived it in 1762 ; the quantity in 1764 exceeded that of
176} in a Hill greater proportion, and we have the greateil
rcafon to expctl an equal incrcafe in the quantity brought
this year before the infpe&ors. *

other a (lender fellow, called Dinar, branded on the hread

ring bolts in her head and Hern.—Whoever will bring the
said negroes and boat to me, or to the overfecr at my planta
