GEORGIA GAZETTE. Number 109. ABSTRACT of the Resolutions of the Honourable the House of Commons for imposing a Stamp Duty in the Brit ijh colonies and plantations in America, from the Votes, pp. 124—131. Jovis, Feb. 7, 1765. — When A Bill for the said purpose was ordered to be brought in. Upon every (kin or piece of vellum or parchment, or every (heet or piece of paper on which lhall be ingrolfed, writ ten, or printed, any DECLARATION, plea, replication, rejoinder, de murrer, or other pleading in any court of law, or copy thereof, three pence. Special bail, and appearance upon such bail, two fillings. Petition, bill, anfwcr, claim, plea, replication, rejoin der, demurrer, or other pleading in any court of chancery or equity, one filling andfixpence. Copies of ditto in ditto, threepence. Monition, libel, anfwcr, allegation, inventory or renunci ation, in the court of ordinary, Sec. one filling. Copies of ditto in ditto, fix pence. Donation, presentation, collation, or institution of or to any benefice, or any writ or infirument for the like purpose —Regifier, entry, tettimonial or certificate of any degree, taken in any university, academy, college or seminary of learning in the colonies, two pounds . Monition, libel, claim, anfwcr, allegation, information, letter of request, execution, renunciation, inventory or other pleading in any admiralty court, one filling. Copiej of ditto in ditto, fix pence. Appeals, writs of error, exemplifications of any record or proceeding of courts, See. (except removal of proceedings from a single juilice of peace) ten fillings. * Writ of covenant for levying fines, writ of entry for fuf fcring a common recovery, or attachment, ifiued out of or returnable into any court, five fillings. Judgment, decree, fentcnce or dilmiflion, or any record of nifi prius or pofiea, four fillings. Affidavit, common bail or appearance, interrogatory, de- Sofition, rule, order or warrant of any court, dedimus potc atem, capias, fubpeena, summons, compulsory citation, commission, recognizance, or other writ, process ormandate, ifiuing out of or returnable into any court or any office be longing thereto, or any other proceeding therein whatsoever, or any copy thereof, or of any record not before mentioned (excepting warrants relating to criminal matters and pro ceedings thereon) one filling. License, appointment or admifiion, of any counfellor, so licitor, attorney, advocate or pro&or, to pradtife in any court, or of any notary, ten pounds. Note or bill of lading for any kind of goods, wares or merchandize, to be exported, or any cocket or clearance granted, four pence. Letters of mart or commi(lions to privateers, one pound. Grant, appointment or admifiion to any publick office for one year or less, of or above twenty pounds a year in salary, fees and perquilites (except commi (lions of officers in the ar my, navy, ordnance or militia, and justices of the peace) ten Jh tilings. Liberty, privilege or franchife under the colony seal, or of the governor alone, or in conjunction with the council or ftliembly, fix pounds. License for retailing spirituous liquors, one pound. License for retailing wine, to any person who has not ta ken a license for spirituous liquors, four pounds. Ditto, to such as have license for spirituous liquors, three founds. Probate of wills, letters of adminiilration or of guardian ship for any eftatc above twenty pounds value, on the con tinent, Bermuda and the Bahama lflands, five fillings. Ditto in all other parts of British America, ten fillings. Bond fer securing any fumon the continent, Bermuda and h Bahama Ifiands, not exeteding \o\. fix pence, from 10 to 201. one fillings from 20 to 401. one filling andfix pence. THURSDAY, May 2, 1765. Order or warrant for surveying land, not exceeding 100 acres, fix pence ; from 100 to 200 acres, one filling ; from 200 to 320 acres, and in proportion for every succeeding 320 acres, one Jbilling and fix pence. , Original grant, deed, methe conveyance, or other infim ment for conveying land on the continent, Bermuda and Ba hama Ifiands, not exceeding 100 acres, one filling and fix pence', from 100 to 200 acres, two fillings ; from 200 to 320 acres, and in proportion for every succeeding 320 acres, two fillings andfix pence. Ditto in all other parts of Britilh America, fis r pounds. Indenture, lease, conveyance, contrast, stipulation, bill of sale, charter party, protefi, articles of apprenticeftiip or co venant (except for the hire of servants not apprentices, and such other matters as are before mentioned to be charged) two fillings andfix pence. Warrant or order for auditing any publick accounts, be neficial warrant, order, grant or certificate under any pub lick seal, or seal of any governor without the council or ailem bly, or of any proprietor or publick officer not before men tioned; or any paflport or lct-pafs, surrender of office or policy of aflurance (except warrants or orders for the service of the navy, army, ordnance or militia, and grants of office under 201. per annum in salary, fees and perquisites) five fillings. Notarial a&, bond, deed, letter of attorney, procuration, mortgage, release, or other obligatory infiruments not be fore mentioned, two fillings and three pence. Regifier, entry or inrollmcntof any grant, deed, or other infirument whatsoever before mentioned, throe pence. Ditto of ditto not before mentioned, two fillings. Upon every pack of playing cards fold or used in America, one filling. Every pair of dice fold or used in ditto, ten filling*. Every pamphlet, and upon every news-paper containing publick news, intelligence or occurrences, contained in half a feet, or any less piece of paper, ene halfpenny ; from half a (heet to one Jbeet, one penny. Every pamphlet or paper larger than one fficct, and not exceeding fix fitttt in odavo or less page, twelve fats in quarto, or twenty feets in folio, after the rate of two fillings for every iheet of any kind of paper which (hall be contained in one printed copy thereof. Every advertisement in any gazette, news-paper or other paper or pamphlet, two f tilings. Every almanack or kalendar for one year or any less time, written or printed on one fide only of any onejheet, (kin or piece of paper, parchment or vellum, t<wo pence. Every other ditto for one year, four pence ; and the fame duties to be paid yearly for every almanack calculated to serve for several years. Any sum not exceeding 501. given as apprentice fee for any clerk or apprentice, Jix pence in the pound; any sum exceeding 501. given as above, one filling the pound.
