At Brentford a number bf men in Mr. Wilkes’s interest attacked a party
in that oflCfr. ’and a battle began, when Mr. Wilkes intreated
his adherents to be peaceatle and fuffer the election to go on qufctly and

It was yesterday remained, that several of the livery of London who
lately voted Mr. Wilkes at Guildhall, were the firft to poll in his

On Wedaefday the 16th ult. came on the eledion at Brambcin Suftcx :
the candidates were Lord Winterton, Charles Lowndes, Esq. Thomas
Thoraton, Esq. and Charles Ambler, Esq. The number of voters were,
in all, 36; and on the poll it flood, for Lord Winterton and Mr. Lowndes
18, Thornton and Ambler 18. Objections were made to seven of Lord
Wiaterton’s nflmber, but the whole (wherein the Returning O.kcer’s vot
was included) were admitted as legal vote*; from the other fide, •bjodi
ons were made to two of Thornton and Ambler’s pollers, and both were
rejeded, and accordingly Lord Winterton and Lowndes were declared
duly elefted by a majority of two. Wc are assured, that there will certain
ly be a petition.

determined in favour of Mr. Darker and Mr. Palmer.

It is confidently asserted, that Mr. Wilkes has ever since hit exile en

few of his friends, among whom arc several Right Hon. Personages of the

Two gentlemen of Mr. Wilkes’s committee that patrolled the Weft end
of the town, went early to Lord Bute’s, where many people were ilTem
