E HERE AS I have received information from Lewi* Valentine Pufcr,
E (quire, Commanding Officer of the Detachment es hi* Majesty’s
i Regiment of Foot, doing duty at Charlcftown in South-Carolina,
that the following persons, being foldier* duly enlisted, have deserted
from hi* Majefty’* fervke, and are fuppofod to he come into this province,

THEREFORE thought fit to tffue tbismy proclamation, hereby requir
ing and cowmandiog all magistrates, conftibles, and other peace officers,
within this province, to be particularly vigilant in apprehending and
fiinmg jo the common goal in Savannah all or any of the above dctcribed
defeitcri, or others whoa they may reasonably fefped, found wandering
or heiag within their refpeflive diftrids or pariihes, and, ‘after due exa
mioaiien, to transmit an account thereof to me, or the Commander in chief
fbetbe time bring; and alfb to caofe to be brought before them aH and
everypmfon or persons harbouring, concealing, or affiftiag, anydeferter
from his Majesty’s fervtce, to be proceeded again ft pursuant to the direc
tion* af the ftR of Parliament of Grcat-Britaia for puniflring mutiny and
deforrion in America, and to pay due refpeft to this my proclamation, as
they will nnfwer the contrary thereof at their peril.

WHEREAS it k+th been represented unto use, tint the brigantine

sent of his Majefty** Honourable Council, think fit so issue this my pro
clamation, ordering and requiring, that the (hid veflel be immediately
carried into and moored in Tybee Creek, and that the feme, together
with the Oaves and per ions therein, do remain there at least forty days
after the Lit perion infetted (hall have recovered; and the (laves and per
