(Ordered, That the bill, with the amendment;., be engrofied.
The ordinance appointing Andrew Elton Wei’s harbcur-maler for the
port of Savannah was read the third time.

Ordered, That Mr. Crcoke uo carry the laid ordinance to rhe Upper
House, and desire their concurrence.
A memorial from the tommifeoners efthe roads for the firft north-well
division, whose names are thereunto fubferibed, was pefented - ro the
Houle, and read, letting forth, That the tnpmorialifts, by a careful and
just discharge of (he daties imposed on tiiem, and execution of the powers
{iven them, wand-by-an aft of the General ‘ACembly, commonly called
ha Road A&, bave caused the roads in the £r(l north-weft diviften, and
a]fa the bridges within the fame, to be put into good order and condition,
and pnrfnme to hope, that, by employing the fcveral pe'rfons liable to
work o .the said road, (for fix days only in every year) they will keep

* V A petition from the inhabitents near the north-weft road, between
Pipcmaker's Creek and-the Spring fridge, whose names are thereunto
fubferibed, was prefetued to the Houfc, and read, setting forth, That,
last August, the petitioners were fuminoned and ordered by the commif
ftoners 6f the high road, with their Haves, to work on the upper part of
the road hear AugulHne’s Creek, by which means that part of the read
near the plantations of. the petitioners were quite negleftcd, and left un
finifhed.aod unrepaired, aud is now almost irnpaftable ;-and the petition
ers arc informed that the said cormuiffioners have petitioned the House ro
have the money whith was levied on the defaulter* for not working to be
applied to the building a chapel on Cherokee Hill, contrary to the !..w
empowering them to raise and apply such fines: The petitioners therefore
pray, that the said money railed, which they are informed amounts to
sixty pounds or upwards, may be applied to the purposes intended by the
High Road Aft, and rhat the Spring causeway may be repaired therewith,
so far as the aforefaid sum will go, and that the High Road Aft may be
revjfed, and commjloners adJed to infpeft andcompleat that part of the
road which has remained hitherto uaiinilhed, and the petitioners will

Mr. Dolloch- from the committee of conference of both IToufcs 00 tha
amendments made by the Upper House to the eng rolled bill to regelate
and afeertain the rates of wharfage of /hipping and mcrchahdUc, and also
to afeertain the rates of ftoreage in the fcveral ports of this province,
for the letter regulation of wharfs and of Hiippbng in the said ports/ and
for afeertaiuing the duty of a harbour mailer lor the port of Savant'ab,
reported, that the committee of both House; had agreed on certain a
mend meats to be made to the said hi IT, which he was direfied to report
o the House, and he read the report in his place, and afterwards deliver
ed the faaie in at,the table, where it was agiin read and agreed to by tlpc
House. ,
Ordered, That Mr. Crooke do carry to the Upper Hoiife, and
acquaint them, that this House agrees to the report of their committee
