Here is a New
I KLONDYKE.
♦ The new and wonderful variety of cotton already •
£ so well advertised in every part of the South, known J
I as JACKSON’S AFRICAN LIMBLESS COTTON is <
still the rage. Those who raise a good crop of the I
seed in 1898 will find in them a veritable Klondyke ;
since the seed is now selling for (200 per bushel, (7 <
per pound or 81 per 100 seeds. This new cotton is ;
raised in hills 8 inches apart, and rows 8 feet apart. ’
It grows 6 to 8 feet in .height, 40 to 100 bolls ‘he <
stalk which is entirely limbless and the yield on i ’
land is over «
Four Bales :
To the Acre
Os a soft, fleecy staple, one and one-half inches in <
length, which sold in the Atlanta market this season J
at 10 cents per pound. A New York syndicate has <
purchased nearly all of the present crop of the Jack- J
son farm and will plant a large section in Mississippi, ’
ifbr the seed, which will net them thousands of dollars <
next season. A small part of the crop was held back. J
Thousands of dollars were offered for this portion and <
refused, A conservative estimate shows that one <
•ound of seed carefully dropped will plant one acre J
I and the crop of seed should amount to 120 bushels in <
addition to 4 bales of lint. The lint at the present <
price averages 850 per bale or 8200 for the crop. The J
seed at one-half the present price would bring 819,000. <
This estimate is borne out by the fact that in 1895, J
Mr. T. A. Jackson, the original owner started with '
Only 5Q ;

I His land was well fertilized and no other variety ♦
♦ of cotton grown anywhere near this plot. He re- 2
2 planted all his crop of seed in 1896 and this year, he Y
♦ harvested 6 acres from which over 25 bales of cotton X
♦ will be taken. The main crop of seed he sold for 2
X 820,000 to one firm alone. Os course care must be ♦
♦ used to allow no mixing with other varieties, and with X
X special heavy fertilizing and attention to insure the Y
1y best results it will repay you ten fold. Commissioner ♦
of Agriculture Nesbitt, of Georgia' says “it is a new X
variety and a wonderful cotton. Planted on good Y
land and well fertilized its yield will be enormous X
and profitable.” 2
