Ye Christians of Gcoi gift,, and lte|)ubli-
cans of America! wherJ® your boasted
freedom' of opinion and'libnrtv of con
science, ifama/i may be torn from his
wife and children % a legislative act, and
sent to the Penitentiary as a culprit, be
cause he will not perjure himself? And
whore is the right,so highly prized by you,
to worship God without leap or distur
bance, if the religious instructors ofllie In
dians may be rudely shut up four years at
hard labor in the Penitentiary tor perform
ing the service of their divine .Tfastcr, be
cause they cannot with a clear conscience
swear allegiance to Georgia? We should
like to kuow whether ministers of the
Gospel in Georgia arc commanded by
law to make such an oath. We verily
believe, that the authorities oi that Stave,
it the authorities of the United States are
fixing a stain of infamy upon themselves
Snd their constituent s, who uphold them,
tier ol* things in France—of the occu
pation of the south of Europe by 150-
000 Austrian troops—and ot the reso
lution of the Emperor and Prince
Metternich not tp recognise the B<j1-
■giaa Revolution.
Of Naples, Sardinia, and Spain 1
will say nothing! They will follow
their leaders! If then we are to have
wu)’, it will begin about the question
>of Belgium. France will rot allow
'Belgium to be attacked,, and Prussia
will resent the interference of France, i AN AGP to prevent the exercise of as
be bound by any contract hereafter to
be entered into witu a white person
or persons, nor shall any Indian he lia
ble to he sued in any of the courts of
law or equity in this State, on such
contract.
The third is
AN ACT to provide for the temporary
disposal oi the improvements an t pos
sessions purchased from ceitain Chero
kee Indians and residents.
The fourth is
Russia ivill not admit the exclusion of
the Nassaus, and the Belgians have
rejected them'.
What then do I fear? That war is,
alas! inevitable. Try to avert it! as
sist in preventing it. But if it or ;st
eartie, then let Great Britain and
France act together, and the contest
-against them, in tfie final result, will
be as ludicrous : as that of Don Quiz-
