Anew Song to an old Tnne.
The maxim “ poeta nascitur, non fit’" 1 applies well
to us, in both its salient points—that is, we are neither
n poet by nature nor made so by art. We have made
jingling rhymes, however, and occasionally a paraphrase
jn metre. The following is one of the sort the i reb
n f which we have taken from an “exchange’’ and filled
it op to suit this meridian. “Sing, comrades sing !”
SALT RIVER boatman's SONO.
We're whirling round ! we’re whirling round !
Hurrah ! my boys, hurrah !
.And Whigs and Demos now have found
A happy spot of neutral ground,
Where they can meet in friendship's sound
And pass the foaming beverage round.
Hurrah ! my boys, hurrah !
Shout till your voices rend the air
Hurrah ! my boys, hurrah !
For ev’ry token doth declare
Old feuds have vanished into air
And joining now are comrades rare
In bonds ns firm as ever were,
Hurrah ! my boys, hurrah !
Shout till the earth’s foundation’s shake!
Hurrah! my boys, hurrah!
Our Union now is fixed as fate
For State is welded unto State
And honest men are bound to make
A merry march in old Cril's wake,
Hurrah ! my boys, hurrah !
0, clap your hands, as on ye pass !
Hurrah . my boys, hurrah !
For traitors have been turned to grass,
And it has strangely come to pass
That seated on the self same ass
Are Jimmy “ Ruck” and Lewis Cass,
Hurrah ! my boys, hurrah !
O, shout and sing, and sing and shout,
Hurrah! my boys, hurrah!
For since the ultras wheeled about.
And wished the Union to blot out
Slave stealing rascals mock and flout
And join in many a drunken bout,
Hurrah! my boys, hurrah!
J.oud *. louder ! let the sound increase !
Hurrah! my boys,•hurrah !
for Feds and Tories have made peace,
Jn fond embrace old quarrels cease,
Rut tkeror mtnd, as slick as grease
Wee'l row them to what lick we please,
Hurrah ! my boys, hurrah !

PECTCRIAL STOMACH FILLS.
A remedy for Coughs, Colds, Catarrh, Croup, Whooping
Cough, Asthma,Consumption, Nervous Diseases, Dyspep
sin, Erysipelas. Balt ftheuni, Disease of the Heart. Fevers
of all kinds, Obstructed and painful Menstruation, Inflam
mation and Pain in the Gliest. Back and Side, and all dis
eases arising from a deranged state of the Stomach, and
to relieve me distress and had feelings from eating too hear
ty food in the week and dyspeptic habits.
These Pills act as an expectorant, tonic, and aperient, and
are designed to supercede the use of the various cough mix
tures in the form of Expectorants, Syrups, Balsams, and Sjar
saparillas of the present day. being whatthe public have long
needed, and put at such a low price that all will be able to ob
tain them. One box of these pills which costs hut 25 cents
possesses four times the power in curing the diseases for which
they are recommended, than the high priced one dollar bottles
of any of the expectorants, syrups balsams, or sarsaparillas
now before the public—and a fair trial of them will convince
any one of the truth of this statement.
They possess properties peculiarly adapted to restore the
lungs and vital organs to a healthy state. They loosen and
discharge all the morbid secretions, assist greatly the expecto
ration, and render the lungs free from that effete matter wtiich
characterizes all those diseases: and the proprietor feels au
thorized to state, from personal observation, and witnessing
tlie astonishing effects of these pills on a multitude of cases,
that there is not another remedy in the whole Materia Aledica
capable of imparting sucli healing properties to the lungs and
vital organs as these pills.
Each box contains 25 Pills-~Price 25 cents.
ALSO
DR. STRONG’S
COMPOUND SANATIVE PILLS.
WARRANTED TO BE PURELY VEGETABLE.
Health is too important to be trifled with; yet we find per
sons every day who give the most careful attention to their
ordinary pursuits, yet neglect that which is far more impor
tant to them, their keitth. If these invaluable Pills were kept
on hand by every family, and restored to on the first symptoms
of disease, they wou*l save many a valuable life, sacrificed
by delay. They are a most superior medicine in the cure of
all Billious Complaints, Chills and Fever, Dyspepsia, Oostive
ness. Liver Complaint. Jaundice,Sick Headache,Scrofula, Loss
of Appetite, and all lingering diseases.
They purify the blood, equalize the circulation, resiore the
liver, kidneys and other secretory organs to a healthy tone and
action; and from their tonic effects, prevent that general pro
stration and debility of the stomach an#intestines that is so
often the consequence of a free use of other purgative medi
cines. Hence asa Female Medicine, they have no equal, and
when taken according to the directions, they never failto cure
the very worst cases of Files, after all other remedies fail.—
They act in concert with nature, and assist her in her efforts
1 to overcome disease; they must, therefore, exert an influence
‘ all-powerful in preserving and restoring the general health.—
- They have been used in every form of disease, and in various
climates, and their excellence proved, in cases where medical
skill and many boaster! remedies had failed to aflbrd relief. —
. Diseases that seemed the most opposite in their nature, have
yielded with equal facility to their use,and cures have been
effected in cases that seemed beyond hope. Nor is it strange
that such should be the cnse, forall diseases, however different
ly named, disorganize the secretions, and impairs the vitality
of the blood.
A medicine, therefore, that is purr/y vrgrtnble, and aids na
-5 tureto restore these important functions to a healthy state,
must prove of service in ail forms of disease. Dr. Strong’s
Compound Sanative Pills possess these raie virtues, ami are
1 therefore not a mere purgative medicine, hut a general remover
of disease, a pu.ifier of the blood, and a strengthener of the
system.
Those who have once tried these Pili* never afterwards feel
willing to be without them, which insufficient proof of their
. good qualities.

that cultivated with the common Plow, and recollect further
that when the points become dull and unfit for use, that 12 r
cents, and the old point delivered in Macon, will replace it w ith
