and Peach orchard, an.! an excellent well of water. The Mos

Extract from the Amended City Charter.
Section I. And he it further enacted by the authority
aforesaid, That after the election to he held on the Ist Sat
urday in Jan. 1852, for a Mayor and eight Alderman of the
city of .Macon, the next election for said officers, and also for
c Jerk and Treasurer of said city, shall be held on the 2d Satur
day in December, 1852, and annually thereafter on the 2tl
Saturday in Doc. of each year.
Sec. IL And be it further enacted lay the authority afore
said, That the Marshal and Deputies of the city of Macon
shall, after tlieir election and qualification, he tinder the ex
clusive control of the Mayor and Aldermen, and may he dis
missed from office at any ti ne, for malpractice in office or
neglect of duty, by the vote of a majority of the members pres
ent at any regular meeting of Council, and not to be eligible
during the time for which #tey may have been elected.
Sec. 111. And be it further enacted by the authority afore
said, That the election of the said Marshal and Deputies shall
be held at the same time of holding the city election, and the
Mayor and Council may appoint a different set of Managers
to superintend said election, to he held under the same regula
tions as (or Mayor and Aldermen.
