HOME TESTIMONIALS.
I Prof. Gspbox,
Dear g !u; —l have now had in use for two weeks a pair of
Pebble Spectacles which I procured from you, and tt is only fair
and just to say to you that they have afforded me the greatest
1 satisfaction.
j The limpid purity and translueency of the Oiassos, and their
I aeurate configuration render their use exceedingly pleasant
j and agreeable to the eye, so much so Indeed, that I frequently
forget that I am looking through glasses at all.
With their aid I can read the finest print by day light or can
dle light, with perfect ease, and I have often read for hours at
night without pain or fatigue to the eyes. lean cheerfully and
concientiousiy reccomend your Spectacles to all who need artifi

I hand you this unsolicited testimony, believing as I do that
i It is a simple act of justice.
With tny best wishes for your success, I remain.

j Dear Sir :— I have tested, thoroughly, I think, the Spectacle*
i purchased of you, and take pleasure in saying I am very much
, pleased with fheni. I find them decidedly more easy and emu
| sortable than any I have ever tried. I experience no fatigue,
-or drawing of the eye, wliicfi has been the case with all other
’ glasses I LA ve used ; but ou the contrary, after using them con
stantly night and day, for some time, I experience ne unpleas
antness whatever.
I do not profess to understand any thiDgof the scientific prin

of them, I cheerfully add my testimony of their superior quality.
Very Respectfully, T. E. BO WDRE.

It were a work of supererogation to praise a book of Monsr.
Lacour’s writing. The volume before us is remarkable for its
completeness, and the exact practical directions which it gives.
| Old manufacturers will find all of the old modes entirely super
’ seded. Theuseof the old formulas would appear as the “foam
of folly” iu the presence of the new ones suggested in this work;
ono of the principal objects appears to be to avoid, as far as
] possible, the use of apparatus or expensive (to the operator) ap
pliances of any kind in the manufacture of liquors, etc. —[New
York Times.
’ This volume contains the art of preparing and putting up the
1 whole list of drinkables, from a choice pipe of Otard Dupuy of
the vintage of 1705, to a simple and economical manner of ma
: king cider without apples, by fermentation. A friend has up
i plied the receipt for converting 28 gallons of whiskey into 41l
gallons, with the most satisfactory results. The latter quality
does not possess an equal amount of intoxicating properties to
; the former, though the 4o gallons was of a much liner color,
I taste and odor.— [N. Y. Mechanic.
This much talked of book is at hand. It contains a mass of
Information that is perfectly astonishing, anti could only have
, been acquired from actual observation. If you wish to see in
j gennity applied, look In a copy of Lacour on Liquor. I’ractf
bility appears to have been the design of the author. No de
lays are necessary to ascertain the results of an application of a
receipt. We speak from actual observation.—(l'tiilad. Sun.
j Mims. Lacour deserves the thanks of the humane for one sug
| gCstion in his new work on liquor. It hoints to the poisonous
: drugs and chemicals that are in use witli dealer. A sample of
| whiskey, brandy, gin, rum, wines, or what not, is made to indl
, cate its impurities immediately upon the application of the pro
cess given in his book.—[Philad. Advertiser.
I!ow it is doxe.—lt has become a proverbial remark, “if
you would g-t rich, go into the liquor business.” This branch
, of business has enriched more of its followers than any other
I requiring the same small capital. What old resident of New
| York that has watched the process of men and things, has not
j noticed liquor dealers and importers outstripping ail com|ieti
i tors on the road to wealth, picking a mtfti’s pocket through his
: guzzle—his palate—for it cannot be a legitimate transaction
! tin it receives five doHals fora gallon of spirit that can be made
; for thirty cents. But render, get a ciqiy of Lacour on Liquors,
! and “learn what we have learned.” Every one know* that tiie
domestic and imitation liquors, as manufactured now-a-days,
i contain deleterious substances injurious alike to ml.id and body,
hurrying thousands to premature graves. We had the advent
of this book as an era tn the history of old King Alcohol, he

Prof. Gedeon’s Glasses.
fN answer to the many requests from the citizens of Macon
Prof. Gedeon ha* arrived i this city with a fine avsort-
I merit of his improved Spectacles..
i Tire great success whU which these glasses meet everywhere,
1 has induced some person* to offer Glasses of iuferior qualities,
J and represent themselves as my Agents.
Notice i hereby given that I have no Agent whatever, and
i that all genuine Glasses are stamped thus : “Prof. Gedeon.”
dee29 —it
| Prof. OcdeoiiN Glasses.
The Greatest Improvement of the Ago.
SPECTACLES, cVo. ground on the exact principles
of Spherical Accuracy, by A. Gedeon, the celebrated Op
-1 tician, from the Improved Spectacle Manufactory and Berlin
Optical Establishment. No. lot, Frederick William Street, B-r-
I ling, established more than a century ago.
Prof. Gedeon, the sole Inventor of the Improved Spectacles
; and various improved glasses has arrived on a professional vi-r
• sit, and may he consulted at his office.
Rooms in the Triangular Block, same floor with Wood’s
Daguerrean Establishment. Entrance on 2d Street.
I These celebrated Glasses are particularly tv be recommended
for as Spectacles are designed to remedy the defects of sight, It
| is proper that the urlicle of which the Glasses are made should
1 be as transparent in its nature, and the lenses as perfect iu
j their form as the Eye itself.
I Prof. Gedeon lias accomplished these two great principles by
i manufacturing bis Glasses out of “Scotch I’kmblk,” the only
; suhstance analogous to the humors of the Eye; and has con- !
j strueted them iu accordance with the philosophy of nature in
the peculiar form of a eoucave convex mirror.
These Spectacles enable persons of weak Eye-sight to pursue
the most minute employment, either hy day or by candle light,
never causing that unpleasant sensation of Giddiness, or Draw
ing of the Eyes, that is produced by the common Glasses.
The frames are likewise so constructed that the rays of light
may be directed through the centre of the Glass to unite cor- j
j rectly upon the retina, and form a perfect picture of the object, j
Added to the advantages possessed by him of long practice in
l the eye Infirmaries, and under one of the mugt eminent Oculists,
by which lie hits obtained a thorough knowledge of the diseases
> of the vision, lie lias in his possession documents from indivktu
i at* of rank, conveying the highest testimonials of approbation.
Homo Testimonials.
i ZWMr. Gedeon having presented his Improved Spectacle
Glosses to me for examination, I cheerfully herein place at his |
! disposal my opinion in regard to them:
fio far as I :un aware, tiie use of the Meniscus is entirely novel ■
I for the purpose to which he lias applied it; bat after a careful i
j examination into the merits of the improvement, and much j
j conversation witli him iu relation to it, I can ex|re?s myself as
t li.ghly pioased within* application of prineiple of the improve
ment or vision. Ills explanation of Us advantages, is in accor
dance with philosophic principles, and so far as I have exam
ined the subject, meets my approval. The Glasses are certaiu- i
!y constructed with great care, and out or the best material.

Prof. Gedeon- Dear Sir.—l have carefully examined your
j Concavo-Convex Spectacles, and most cheerfully add iny testi
’ inoriy of their superiority over any Lenses that I have seen.
I am, sir, yours Ac.,
11. A. BIG NON, M D.
j We are n*ing a pair of Prof. Oedeou’s Concavo-Convex Glass
es, and find them remarkably ta*y and pleasant to the sight.—
| We can read fine print with theru, and write for hours without
feeling that unpleasant sensation of -drawing the eves,’ which
! the couenon Glasses have done. We ilo not know whether it is
j the superiority of the material, or the principle op which they
i are grond, but we can *ay, conscientiously, that they are the
1 best glasses we ever had.

To Prof. A. Gedeon—Fir.—After a faithful trial In sofne
