Grand Jury Presentments.
VI r L the Grand Jurors, select, cht-aen and sworn for
v v the Apr-I Term of the Superior Court of Hous
ton County, for the year 1956, beg leave to make the fol
lowing presentments:
We have examined, as well as possible, all the Records
of our County Officers, and find them all kept In a neat
and legible manner, highly creditable to the present in
cumbents of office and their predecessors. By refer
ence to the poor school fund, we find that daring the
current year the Commissioner received $254? 16, and
paid out 81445 75, leaving now in hi* hands sllO2 51.
with yet some outstanding claims. W e , therefore, do
not recommend any additional tax to be levied in this
respect, but to remain as the year previous.
We fiud in the hands of the County Treasurer |3462 94
for County punaises; #BSIO 75 for Jury fond ; and
♦647 29 as a Pauper fund, uith outstanding claims at
or thereabouts. We therefore recommend an ad
ditional assessment ofiper cent, to be levied to increase
the pauper fund. We have had under consideration
the condition of our public buildings, and deem it unne
cessary to say anything as respects our Courthouse, as
the proper authorities have taken that subject in con
sideration. We regard the Jail as iu a very imperfect
comi it ion, for the health or safe keeping of those incar
cerated therein.
We find the public roads and bridges of the country in
bad condition, almost impassal-lc in some place*, strown
with trees, limbs and brush, traces of the last sleet, call
ing loudly for repair, forks of the roads and cross roads
mostly without sign-posts, leaving the traveller to wan
der and wind his way in doubt. In conclusion, we pre
sent the Inferior Court for neglect of duty in this respect,
and recommend them not to be swallowed .up with ail
the absorbing theme of anew Courthouse, to the neg
lect of other important duties.
We allow Mr. Bateman, Tax Collector, his insolvent
list with cost.
In taking leave of His Honor Judge Powers, we beg
leave to tender him our thanks for his very kind de
portment towards us, and to express our admiration ot
the very able manner in which he has presided and dis
charged the arduous duties of the week. To the Solici
citor General Montfort, we endr our thanks for his
courtesy and the diligence he has manifested in the dis
charge of his duties.
We request that these presentments be pnblished in
the several Macon papers.

We the Grand Jurors selected, cho*en and sworn for
the second week of the April Terra of the Superior Court
of this County, for the present year, beg lea re to make
the following presentments:
We find from the presentments of Panel No. 1, that
they have attended to all the necessary business per
taining to the County, consequently, leaving little or
nothing for us to do; but would still urge the Inferior
Court to take this matter of road into hand, so loudly
complained of by Panel No. 1. Particularly that por
tion of the road leading from Perry to Uayacvißr,
known as West’s Bridge.
In taking leave of His Honor, Judge Powers, we beg
leave to tender him our sincere thanks for his kindness

ANTI-DYSPEPTIC MEDICINE.
FMNHI? valuable laxative and tonic cordial, is most
8 confidently recommended to those persons who
are auffei ing front the disorders incident to an impaired
digestion. The symptom* indicative of an imperfect a*-
-imilation of the fowl and its healthy and natural ap
propriation to the sustenance of the system, are too va
ried and numerous to call for a minute account of them
here. To those who are afflicted with such disorder*,
they are but too readily appreciated, and need no de
tailed statement of them. To all such the proprietor
commends this medicine. An ample experience in the
practiceof medicine and in Xhe use of the remedy, as
sures him that it possesses virtues superior to any other
comiemnd with which he is acquainted. He is willing
that its reputation shall rest upon its merits alone.
For the Costivene-s, Head ache and Indigestion of
pregnancy, its benefits are peculiarly manifest, and for
tins distres.-ing di~ -rder, it has proven eminently useful.
Asa promoter of Digest ion, its efficacy w)L be readily
acknowledged by those persons, who indulge freely in
the luxuries of the table, and by reaon of a slow and
labored digestive process, suffer from fullness and oppres
sion of stomach, headache, eructations, tic. Taken un
der auv circumstaiH cs. U renders Immediate roller. Its
properties as a laxative for continued use, restoring the
secretions and exciting the vermicular action of the in
testinal Canal. renders it a safe and valuable family med
icine, equallv adapted to children and adults.

have had occasion to take the Medicine forthe past four

I cannot too strongly recommend its use to those who
suffer with Dyspepsia, and you are at liberty to publish
this for the benefit of suffering mankind, as I am tho

Gents—Yours of the 13th came duly to hand. Ku
dosed please find thirty-eight dollars, it being the a
mount for Hair Restorative. I have sold it all. * * *
If you choose, you may send six dozen bottle* Hair Re
storative; I think I can sell it. It has worked miracles
in this place. I sold a man six ft bottles, that was bald,
and it fetched new hair out all over his head.
Yours respectfully, M. H. GRIDLEY.
C. R. R. Office, Vandalia, June 21, 1?54.
Profe*sor Wood —
Dear Sir:—l take pleasure in bearing voluntary tes
timony to the excellence of your Hair Restorative. —
Three*mouths ago. my hair was very gray. It is now a
dark brown. dh e original color.) smooth and glossy.—
The only application 1 have made to it, has been the
Hair Rostorative, prepared by you. and which, from the
result in my own case, I can most cordially recommend j
to others. Respectfully yours.
EDWARD WOLCOTT.
Vincennes.la.. .Tuna2l, 1953.
Prof. 0. J. Wood—
As you arc about to manufacture and vend your re
cently discovered Hair Restorative. I will state for
whomsoever it may concern, that I have used it, and
known others to use it—that I have, for several years,
been in the habit of using other Hair Restoratives, and
that I find yours vastly superior to any other I know.— ;
It entirely cleanses the head of dandruff, and with one
month’s proper use, will restore any person's hair to the
original youthful color and texture, giving it a healthy,
soft and glossy appearance; and all this, without dis
coloring the hands that apply it, or the dress on which
it drops. 1 would, therefore, recommend its use to eve
ry one desirous of having a fine color aud texture to
hair. Respectfully vours,
WILSON KING.
St. Louis, June 2ff. 1953. ‘ ‘
Prof. Wood— 4
As you are about to prepare and vend your recently
discovered Hair Restorative, and as you request my o
pinlon of it, I will state, that my hair was, a few months
ago, very gray, and after using two bottles of your Hair
Restorative, it resumed its original color ; and since its
application, all dandruff has disappeared from my head,
and I have been troubled with no disagreeable itching
of the scalp. I am satisfied, that those who use it, will
not regret it, as it gives the appearance of having been
recently oiled. I am prepared, therefore, to recom
mend its use to all who are desirous of having a beauti
fill head of hair. I am, sir, vours. etc.
H. L. STEWART
Professor Wood—
Dear Sir. —My hair had, for several years, been be
coming prematurely gray, accompanied by a harshness
which rendered the constant application of oil necessa
ry in dressing it. When I commenced using your Hair
Restorative, about two months ago. it was in that con
dition ; and having continued its use till within the last
three weeks, it has turned to its natural color, and as
sumed a softness and lustre, greatly to be preferred to
those produced by the application of oils or any other
preparation I have ever used. I regard it as an indis
pensable article for every lady’s toilet, whether to he
he used a* a Hair Restorative, or for the simple purpose
of dressing or beautifying the hair. You have permis
sion to refer to me all who entertain any doubt of its
performing all that is claimed for it

Professor O. J. Wood —
Allow me to attest the virtues and magic powers of
your Hair Restorative. Three months since, being ex
ceedingly gray, I purchased, and soon commenced to
use. two bottles; and it soon began to tell, in restoring
the silver locks to their native color, and the hair, which
was before dry and harsh and falling off. now became
soft and glossy, and it ceased falling; the dandruff dis
appeared and the scalp Install the disagreeable itching,
so annoying before, and now. I not only look, but feel
voung again. Respectfully yours, etc.
