Leak sir—Yours ofthc 13th inst- has been received
its contents noted. Ac. 11l reply to your enquiry in
regard to the Manipulated Guano as a fertilizer—l
am well pleased so tar as I have tested its use. I ap
plied nlxmt lot) Hi*, per acre on land that was lutdiy
worn, and nor of tit’- ls->t when IVesh. The product
of the field where the Guano was applied is over 800
lb', of sew I cotton fier acre. The same kind of land
without the Guano produced alsiut 4<>n lbs. |ier acre.
My mode ofnptHying the Guano, was hy depositing
it in the drill before bedding tip the land. I have not
tried it* use on corn, lint have no doubt but it will
succeed well. I shall use it pretty extensively on
niv next crop.
Y'onrs Respectfully.

THE STATES AND UNION.
The Cheapest Paptr in the South.
Onlj One D'.l r per an mini fur the Weekly
Kditi n.
During the month of October wo will common-e
the publication of our pa per, on Xkw, l.vbuk, and lioi
bu tvpe, under the title of
THE STATES AND UNION.
It will lye conducted with an exclusive regard to
the pi jtieiples of the State-rights Democracy, will l>e
independent of f.i tions. unbiased by partial inter
ests, itnti furnished to subscriber* at the low price of
ONE DOLLAR PER YEAR.
This is but barely remunerative; hut we have
placed it thus low in order that it may lye within the
reach of .every Democrat and others whoare inclined
to read it. It will contain all the leading editorials
which appear in the daily editions, as well as a large
amount of general intelligence, embracing much
valuable information relating to the nffmrt of govern
ment, and matters of interest appertaining to Litera
ture. Agriculture, and Commerce. It will also con
tain all the Govkxxiiixt Auvlrtisuuxts and official
notices.
The events which will transpire during the next
twelrv roonlh* will make a paper published at the seat
of government of more than ordinary interest.
The States axd Union, during this period, will con
tain a perfect history of the proceedings of the
NEXT CONGRESS,
which will perhajis he of more interest to the nation
than any previous Congress which has assembled at
Washington since the formation of the government.
It will embrace the whole political canvass lbr the
NEXT PRESIDENCY,
up to the day on which the election takes place; in
! fact, it may be regarded as the
CAMPAIGN PAPER.
I and the cheapest paper of the kind ever issued.
We see no reason w hy its circulation should not be
extended to fifty thousand in a few months. The in
! dientions are favorable to stn-h a result from the sub

’ in the large number of subscribers. A remittance
