FORI IIALLtl miSS The farmer’s conference that closed here Friday was in many re ' spects one of the most helpful and inspiring conferences that ever has been held here by the colored farm ers of this section. From all over this county and from adjoining counties the farmers and club members came ,to the conference bringing with them their exhibits of home cured meat, canned products, butter, eggs and paultry. The exhibit of canned products from the various communities showed that the club women who them had given much time and thought to the best methods of mod¬ ern canning and preserving fruits and vegetables and the meat looked much better in quality. There was also a poultry show, the first that has been held in connection with the ■ farmers’ conference, I A very helpful health play and - moving picture show a were some ! of the features. Lee stressed the importance of building U p and keeping the soil on the farm, Dr. Robinson told the farm era how to properly kill and cure their meat, and Dr. J. T. Hall, P. E., emphasized the fact that the home, 1 school, and church must all work to gether for the purpose of producing j upright, God-fearing citizen- , I THOMASTON PREPARING FLOAT (Thomaston Times) At the Tuesday night meeting or the Kiwanis club of Thomaston the I committee appointed sometime ago to prepare a float for the Peach Festival at Fort Valley made a report of its . tentative plans for same. Mr. A. T. Matthews is chairman of the com¬ mittee and has been very active in getting up the plans for the float. He stuted that a peach crate of the size ^ a j ar( , e truck and mounted on a truck ha<l been decided on as the de¬ sign ” of the float. It will be a com¬ plect crate for peaches and will be filled with young ladies to represent peaches. A large peach will bo paint¬ ed on the ends of the orate and la¬ beled "Thomastoa Pe ie5.’’ the idea being to emphasize the superior size quality of Thomaston peaches.
