PEACH COUNTY CUPID NOT
GETTING CO-OPERATION
June is supposed to be the wedding
month, but you’d have to be told in
Peach county—for you’d never guess
it. The sale of marriage license for
the month is very discouraging.
The Peach county Cupid is not re
ceiving the co-operation of the young
folks that might have been expected.
One of the serious problems of Cupid
is that of the disappearing shieks.
We can’t understand, when the
county is flooded with lovely peaches,
home grown and imported, why a
number of the young men of Peach
County go to the Milledgeville and
Atlanta orchards to pick peaches.
Mrs. J. W. McCoy and children are
visiting friends in Atlanta.

JOURNAL “ROTO” PICTURES
FORI VALLEY GIRLS
_
The Rotogravure section of the At
lanta Journal has been carrying some
very charming and interesting pic
tures of the lovely young girls of
Fort Valley. If the Journal really
“covers Dixie like the dew” it is no
wonder that lose of them (
we so many
to other cities and other states.
Among the pictures that were 1
specially good was one of Misses
Rubye Duke, Helen White, Emily
Braswell and Beatrice Connal.
MISS HUBIE CLAIRE HUGHES
WEDS MR. HERBERT VINING
The wedding on Tuesday afternoon
at five o’clock at the Baptist church
in Sparta of Miss Ilubie Claire
Hughes to Mr. Herbert Vining was a
pretty event, attracting wide atten¬
tion throughout the state ,where the
bride and groom are widely known.
The bride was attended by her sis¬
ter, Miss Martha Hughes, as maid of
honor. Misses Jewel Vining of' Fort
Valley and Madian Moran of Sparta
were the bridesmaids. Mrs. Hughes,
mother of the bride, acted as matron
of honor.
The groomsmen were L. L. Brown
and Samuel M. Mathews of Fort Val¬
ley, I)r. Frank Harrison of Sparta
and Dr. Heywood Hughes of Macon.
Mr. Jack Vining, brother of the
groom, acted as best man.
Lillian Sammons, little daughter of
Mr. Early Sammons, was the dainty
flower girl.
Rev. W. E. Young of Charleston,
S. C., performed the ceremony in the
historic Baptist church of Sparta,
the former home of the bride, in the
presence of a large gathering of
friends.
On the evening previous to the
wedding Miss Madian Moran enter¬
tained the wedding party and close
friends at a lovely reception at her
home.
For the past two years Mrs. Vin¬
ing, as Miss Hughes, was a popular
member of the Fort Valley school
faculty, having made many friends
who are happy that her mar¬
riage does not remove her from
Fort Valley. Mr. Vining is a young
member of the bar of Fort Valley,
w here he is fast gaining distinction
as a prominent attorney of Peach
colm ty and this section.
The bride wore a stylish traveling
suit and immediately after the wed
ding ceremony the young couple left
for a motor trip in the mountains of
North Carolina, after which they
will be at home on church street in
Fort Valley..
