Hartley, popular cashier of the Bank of Fort Valley, has severed his connection with the bank and will leave for Miami, to make his home the first of September. * * * Mr. J. F. Lambert and family have returned to the city after being away since the close of school. TO MOVE TO FLORIDA Mr. and Mrs. George McCarty re¬ turned Sunday from a week’s visit to relatives in Miami, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. McCarty have decided to take up their residence in Miami, and expect to leave here September first. Mr. McCarty has accepted a position with a large wholesale grocery com¬ pany of Miami. Many friends here regret to give them up, but are wish¬ ing them success and happiness in their new home. MR. AND MRS. BRISENDINE IN NEW HOME Mr. and Mrk W. G. Brisendine have moved into their handsome home on Miller st. and Central ave. and have already made improvements that have added greatly to the attractiveness of the place. The grounds have been cleaned and they are planning more improvement by planting shrubs and flowers, which will make this one among the most beautiful and artistic homes, noconly in Fort Valley but in the South. CHURCH NOTES A special musical program was enjoyed at the Methodist church last Sunday evening. There was no ser¬ mon by the pastor, Rev. T. H. Thom¬ son, the congregation worshiping in a song service, led by a specially se¬ lected choir, who rendered an appre¬ ciated service of song. The Baptist church has granted the pastor, Dr. A. AL FRESCO OCCASION A most delightful outing was en¬ joyed by the members of the Byron Baptist church last Friday at Hous¬ er’s Mill. A fine picnic dinner with iced drinks was served at the noon hour under the shade of the trees. During the day the young folk and children participated in many games and enjoyed bathing in the cool waters of the pool. One of the de¬ lightful features of the afternoon was the watermelon cutting that was enjoyed by every one, for what is more delicious and appetizing than a “Georgia watermelon.” ? A number of guests from Fort Valley were in attendance and were appreciative of the hospitality. Late in the afternoon, ice cream was served, after which all wended their way home, having spent an un¬ usually pleasant outing. Mrs. Joe Davidson is spending this week with Mr. Davidson in Atlanta.
