VACATION DAYS NEAR END
1 The last week in August marks the
end of the vacation period and the
return of the college set from camps
and visits to take part at home in
the social gnyities ^efore their de

Miss Beulah Davidson was a
charming hostess Friday afternoon
when she entertained a large num
ber of friends at her beautiful coun
try home at a bridge party in honor
of her guest, Miss Caldwell, of La
Grange. The home was bright and
cherry with the adornment of flow
e rs of every hue and the young wo
men in their gayly colored attire
made a pretty picture.
Dainty refreshments concluded the
joys of the party, while the motor
ride to and from the Davidson home
was a pleasurable feature of the oc
casion.
MISS MADGE JAMES AT
METHODIST CHURCH
Miss Madge James’ message in
song at the Methodist church Sun
day morning inspired the large con
gregation to a deeply worshipful
mood, as they listened to pastor T. H.
Thomson in his forceful and impres
sive sermon, which had as its basis
for meditation the words, Have
Faith in GOD.”
Miss James, in a rich mezzo so
prano, delighted her hearers as they
listened to the thoughts centering
around the words of the well known
song, “Nearer. My God to Thee," set
to the music of the old refrain by
Kreisler; the arrangement of the
composition being her own.
Miss James is teacher of voice in
the Presbyterian College at Bates
ville, Arkansas, and will take up her
work there on September 8th.

WOMAN’S CLUB ACTIVITIES
The Fort Valley Woman’s Club and
the Junior Club will soon begin their
fall activities. Auspicious conditions
surround club work in Fort Valley
this season.
The Junior Club is furnishing the
Kiwanis luncheons on Fridays at
their regular meetings.

SUNDAY SCHOOL CONVENTION
OF REHOBOTH ASSOCIATION
A number of the Baptist Sunday
school folk will attend the Fourth
Annual Sunday School Convention of
the Rehoboth Association, which will
be held at Mt. Zion Church, seven
miles west of Macon Thursday, Aug,
27, which will have as the keynote,
“Power in Winning to Christ.”
Mr. F. W. Withoft will lead the
singing, and others in this section
who will bring messages will be Mrs,
Alva Davis of Houston Factory, who
will have for her subject, “The Sun¬
day School Superintendent,” and E.
H. Holland of Byron will have a
message.
Field Secretary Gainer Bryan has
arranged a splendid program for the
day. A number of state workers will
appear on the program.
Dr. W. H. Hafer and Harris Hafer
are spending a few days this week
with Dr. Hafer’s sisters in Waycross,
Ga., and Jacksonville, Fla.
Mr. J. W. Robinson spent Sunday
and Monday in Wrightsville on
business. Mrs. Robinson accompanied
him and spent the time with friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Geo. P. Green left
Tuesday morning by auto for Fort
Lauderdale, Fla., where they will vis¬
it their daughter, Mrs. J. R. Under¬
wood.
Frank Vance, a Birmingham sport¬
ing editor of fame, visited Fort Val¬
ley last Thursday and renewed asso
ciations with John Vance and other
relatives and friends.
