Construction Plans
-
The plans of the Southern Bell
Telephone Company for construction
work and expansion in Georgia dur
ing 1926, to care for the present and
future needs of the state, involve an
expenditure of $2,628,000 for addi- 1
tions and replacements. j
This large construction program in
dicates the growth and progress of
Georgia, following as it does, the big
expenditure of more than $2,250,000
made during 1925. I
Such continued growth and develop
ment is invariably reflected in activ
ity on the part of the Telephone Com
pany which is necessary to keep pace
the te ih^ne needs of the state.

The 1926 construction program pro
vides additional telephone facilities
m many of the local exchanges which
the Company operates, with exten
sive additions to the long distance
system. This work combined with that
recently completed, is expected to care
amply for present telephone needs and
prov ide for future expansions.
The biggest items in the Georgia
budget are $562,000 for central of¬
fice equipment, $350,000 for exchange
line projects, $499,700 for new long
circuits and toll reconstruc
tion, $229,000 for land and buildings,
$35,000 for miscellaneous work, $35,
000 for stations and private branch
exchanges and $902,000 for the rou
tine work of installing, disconnecting
and moving telephones.
In Georgia the extensive construe
tion activity which has been in prog
ress in various sections of the state
will be continued in addition to the
usual routine work.
