Georgia Gains In
Vocational Ed’cat’n
ATLANTA (GPA) D e .
daring that Georgia has made
more progress in vocational edu
cation activities during the pres
«nt state administration than any
other similar period in history,
Gov. Herman Talmadge, speaking
before the Georgia Vocational Ed¬
ucational Association’s recent an¬
nual convention in Macon, said he
was proud of the fact that lates
federal reprots show Georgia now
is in fourth place in the nation
in the pumber of persons enrolled
ip vocational courses.
«< This means that those in charge
of this work in our state have
done an excellent job,” he said.
The tangible benefits brought by
the four major programs in voca
tional education are more practi
cal and valuable. They teach boys
and girls, young men and women
and adults to learn various trades
and various methods which add to
the productivity of all those en¬
rolled in many courses.”
The Governor said the major
fields of the vocational division
are agriculture education, home
economics, distributive education
and trade and industrial educa¬
tion. The total enrollment for the
vocational programs for the year
