( The world’s first stainless steel cooking utensil — a saucepan
(hat cost about $8,000 to make — was one of the outstanding fea¬
tures of an exhibition of stainless steel at the nationally k..„.,u
Hammaeher Sehlemmer store in New York City.
i The historic saucepan, (at left) which the store's president,
iDominie Tampone, is seen showing to a customer, was hand rolled
31 years ago by Union Carbide Metals Company, a division of Union
\ Carbide Corporation, in cooperation with a utensil manufacturer.
Every homemaker will agree that stainless steel ware has
come a long way since those early days. Beease it lasts a lifetime
and is so easy to keep shining and spotless, it is a joy to own - at
| prices everyone can afford. And today it is fashionably at home
i- not only in the simplest of kitchens, but at the most elegant and
rformal party occasions.
