Recently Mrs. Betty H. George
returned from the annual rally of
Highway Rambler Recreational Vehicle
Club. Sixty-six trailers, primarily from
the South, met in Perry to give their
owners several days of fellowship.
In a recent conversation with Mrs.
Milton Brown we heard about the
shooting of the seven-hour television
mini-series about President John
Kennedy. Since the documentary deals
with the Kennedy presidency as seen
through the eyes of Jacqueline, the
Browns’ daughter, Blair, has a pivotal
role in portraying the president’s wife.
Mrs. Brown reported that Rich¬
mond, Va,, was the site selected for the
assassination scene. On the day that
pan of the story was prepared for the
series then# was a strange hush over
the entire cast. A pall seemed to hang
over the actors the whole day — as if
they were re-living the horrible event.
In an effort to lend authenticity to
the set, the director imported flowers
from as far away as Australia. At Palm
Beach, Florida, where the Kenncdys
spent many winters, Blair reported
seeing plants like poinsettias and holly
blooming in the recent 93 degree
weather.
Friends who want to see Blair in this
series should remember that it will air
for three hours on November 20 and
two hours each on the next two days.
Mrs. Georgcann Seymour provided
the following account of her nephew’s
summer. Walter Harris, son of Mr, and
Mrs. R. L. Harris Jr., of Lilburn, and
grandson of Mrs. R. L. Harris Sr., of
Fort Valley, is enjoying the summer
backpacking through Europe.
One highlight of his trip included a
visit to the Isle of Harris in Scotland.
Another interesting aspect of the trip
was spending a week as a house guest
of an Austrian family he met on a train.
His patents were proud of a note from
his Austrian hostess, praising their
honorable and "chivalrous” son.
Walter is planning to return to his
home in Lilburn in November
Shannon Rackley and David Owens
of the Fort Valley Presbyterian Church
have been elected to serve on the
Augusta-Macon Presbyterian Youth
Council.
James Bergman, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Orvin Bergman, left for Abraham
Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton,
Sunday, September 18. A freshman,
James plans to major in wildlife
management,
