Annual art show is
for weekend
The 17 th Annual Art Show
sponsored by tire Jailhouse Alley Art
Center will be held this weekend,
October 1 and 2, at the Woman's
Club House, at the corner of Miller and
Church streets in Fort Valley The
hours are 9:00 to 6:00 on Saturday and
2:00 to COO on Sunday, The first hour,
9:00 to 10:00, on Saturday will be a
sneak preview Although there is no
admission charge for the show, the

I-arge crowds are the rule at the annual art show. Ixtst year's show was
judged to be one of the best attended and most successful ever.

Accidents, D.U.l. s ana burglaries
have kept Byron police busy for the
past week.
An accident occurred on Boy Scout

pickup driven by Thomas Ixon Ozmore
ofLizella struck Angelia Thcrsia Daniel
of Macon as she was walking along the
side of the road, knocking her into the
ditch. Ozmore was meeting another car
going in the other direction when the
side mirror struck Daniel, Daniel was
taken to the Medical Center of Central
Georgia where she was treated and
released Officer Robert Borders
worked the accident and no charges
were made
Another accident occurred at the
Starvin' Marvin in Byron on September

City buys new Cat
loader ‘on
Vi ill Towns, the operator of the city’s
new- front end loader, is well pleased
with the city's purchase. He likes the
new mac hine, but more particularly he
likes the cab on the new machine which
allows him to work in rainy, cold
weather
"It's a good move," said Towns, an
11-year employ ee of the city . He said
that the 930 Caterpillar which the city
traded in on the new front end loader
was a good machine, but the ahsemc

According to Karen Freeman, the
chairman of the show, there will be
about 25 members exhibiting their
paintings landscapes, seascapes,
flowers, peaches, local and area
landmarks, and pen and ink drawings
are some of the subjects that will be in
the show,

this year’s calendar include the present
home of the Jailhouse Alley Art Center
on Everett Square done by Ouida
Luckic; a southern magnolia by Karen
Freeman; a little gray rabbit by Selma
Wheatley; a scene on a waterfront by
Cat Brady; an antique baby carriage by
Kate Vinson; an adorable child and a
dog at the piano by Betty Futral;
Florida sea shells by Dodi Lovett,
loving hands of two generations by
Vicki DeGraw; grandaughter in
costume by Estelle Pyles; the old Fort
Valley High School by Helen Faircloth;
the library and in Byromville by Marion
Paige; a lovely home by Emily
Harp
The matting and framing depart¬
ment will have a display. Vicki DeGraw
and Karen Freeman will be there to
answer questions concerning framing
paintings of any kind, needlework,
portraits, anything needing matting
and or framing.
Officer Robert Borders stopped
James Ray Proctor of Macon on
September 17 for manner of driving on
Highway 49 and charged him with
D.U.l. Proctor was laier released on a

On the morning of September 17
Officer Robert Borders answered a call
to the Hull Gulf Station on Highway 49
and charged Frank Wenter Sistruck of
Warner Robins with public drunk
eness. Sistruck was released on a $66
bond.
On the afternoon of September 21,
Chief Watson answered a call. to the

Grand jury to hear Revco cases
Although criminal court is scheduled
next week in Peach County, the Alma
Jefferson - Woody Poole cases are not
on the agenda.

Peach County Roads Superintendent Jerry Bryan
