Trojans lose 35-20 decision to
a effort

The Peach County Trojans had the
lead twice, but could not hold on as the
Crisp County Cougars outscored the
Trojans 35-20 last Friday night in Cor
dele.
The Trojans received the ball on the
five-yard line and Steve Felts returned
it to the 32-yard line for the Trojans
first drive of the evening.
The Trojans moved the ball inside
the Cougar 40 before the drive stalled
forcing the Trojans to punt. David
Prater punted the bail to the 21-yard
line.
On second down and nine, Crisp
County quarterback Marvin Collier
passed to Bernie Ford for a 14-yard gain
out to the 37-yard line. Collier passed
to Ford, again, but a 15-yard blocking
below the waist penalty pushed the
Cugars back. This drive stalled, forcing
the Cugars to punt.
The Trojans began this drive on the
33-yard line. Stevie Felts gained nine
and a halfyards on the first play Then
Felts gained one yard for the first
down.
The Trojans couldn’t move the ball
after the first down, forcing another
punt
The Cougars got the ball again on
the 30-yard line, but they could not
budge the Trojan defense, forcing
another punt
The Cougars fooled everyone in the
stadium by passing on fourth down,
but the Trojans held them short of the
first down. This gave the Trojans great
field position on the Cougar 25-yard
line
Stevie Felts gained two yards as the
first period ended with the no score
Dean Maddox picked up three yards.
Then, Dean Maddox rambled down to
the nine-yard line for a first down and
goal Jimmy Reed went down to the
five-yard line Dean Maddox moved
the ball to the two-yard line. Maddox
gained one more yard to the one-yard
line, fourth and goal. Dean Maddox
then went around the right end for the
touchdown with 9:45 to go in the half,
Eric Hatcher's kick was good making
the score Peach County 7, Crisp 0
Crisp County started this drive on
the 34-yard line after the kickoff Crisp
County went to work as quarterback
Marvin Collier passed to Joel Owens for
a 10-yard gam to the 44-yard line Vic
Lowe picked up eight more yards Mar¬
vin Collier passed to Bernard Ford for a
15-yard gain. Then Collier passed to
Tracy Clements for a 16-yard gam to
the 15-yard line Vic Lowe picked up
nine more yards to the six-yard line,
Collier moved the ball over to the five
yard line for the first down Joel Owens
picked up one yard to the three-yard
line Then Marvin Collier passed to
Peach 7th & 8th grade team

Ihe Peach County 7th and 8th grade
fixitball team defeated Upson County
in their first game of the new season
last Thursday, September 22, by a
score of 16-0
Scoring for Peach County were
quarterback Reginald Taylor on a
27 yard run and Tyrone Maddox on an
18-yard run Both PAT attempts were
good as Dexter Brown, running behind
fullback John Quick, scored two points
each time

The Trojans started this drive at the
27-yard line. The Cougars’ defense,
however, would not allow the Trojans
anything, forcing a punt. Crisp County
received the ball on the 37-yard line.
The Cougars could not move the ball,
forcing another punt.
Peach County’s drive started on the
35-yard line. The Trojans were able to
move the ball out to the 49-yard line,
bur two costly penalties put the ball
back to the 34-yard line.
John Dean ran the reverse with the
help of a key block by Brian Dean for
66 yards and a touchdown with 0.56
left in the half. Eric Hatcher’s kick was
good, making the score Peach County
14, Crisp Count 7.
Crisp County returned the kickoff to
the 43-yard line with very little time re
maining in the half. Joel Owens picked
up three yards. Then, Marvin Collier
passed to Bernard Ford for a 15-yard
gain. Collier passed to Ford again for
16 more yards to the 25-yard line,
Then, Marvin Ford passed to Joel
Owens on the 15-yard line. Finally,
Marvin Collier passed to Michael Reese
for the touchdown with 10 seconds left
in the half. The PAT was good making
the score Peach County 14, Crisp
County 14.
SECOND HALF
Bernard Ford returned the kickoff 52
yards to the Trojan 43-yard line to open
the second half.
Bernard Ford gained five yards to the
38. Joel Owens picked up five more
yards to the 33-yard line. Marvin Col
her picked up three more yards to the
30-yard line. Then, Bernard Ford
raced around the left end for the
touchdown with 9:50 to go in the third
period. The PAT was good making the
score Crisp County 21, Peach County

Peach County returned the kick to
the 26-yard line to start this very impor
tant drive Disaster struck on this
possession as the Cougars intercepted a
halfback pass on the Trojan 24-yard
line
Marvin Collier passed 21 yards to Vic
Lowe on the four-yard line. The
Cougars lost five yards on an encrouch
ment penalty pushing them back to the
nine-yard line. The penalty didn’t hurt
as Marvin Collier scrambled to the end
zone for the touchdown with 7:18 to go
in the third period The PAT was good
making the score Crisp County 28,
Peach County 14.
The Trojans got the ball on the
38-yard line this time, but they could
not move the ball, forcing another
punt. David Prater punted the ball to
the Cougar six-yard line.

continues an unbeaten streak which
began at the first of last season. 'IFie

The Peach County Trojans face
Dodge County Friday night at Ander¬
son Field at 8:00 Dodge was a 7-6 win¬
ner over Perrv last week
The Cougars could not move the ball
as the period ended with the score
Crisp County 28. Peach County 14.
The Cougars punted the ball to the
Trojan 44-yard line giving the Trojans
good field position,
On first down, Greg Williams passed
to Alfred McCrary for an eight-yard
gain. Steve Felts added four more
yards. Felts gained two yards. Greg
Williams added five, then, Jimmy
Reed gained five yards for the first
down on the 31-yard line, Kevin Towns
hit Alfred McCrary on the 19-yard line,
Jimmy Reed moved the ball to the
14-yard line. Eventually Greg
Williams rambled to the end zone for
t h e touchdown with 7:34 to go in the
g ame , The PAT was no good leaving
the score Crisp County 28, Peach
County 20.
The Cougars returned the ball to the
34. yaf d line. On the first play from
scrimmage, Crisp County was penaliz
ed for offensive pass interference and
loss of down. On second down, Marvin
Collier passed to Joel Williams for eight
yards. Collier moved the ball nine
yards, plus a 15-yard penalty putting
the ball on the 39-yard line. Bernard
Ford raced 34 yards to the six-yard line.
Joel Owen added five more yards to the
one-yard line. Joel Owen went in for
the touchdown with 4:58 to go in the
game. The PAT was good making the
score Crisp County 35, Peach County
20.
Neither team was able to move the
ball in the last 4:00 leaving the final
score Crisp County 35, Peach County
20.
The Cougars even their record to 2-2
while the Trojans fall to 0-4.
The offensive line did a surperb job
last Friday night and deserve some
recognition. They are Robbie Hancock,
Justin Davis, Tony Clark, Garland
Hampton, and Steve Allen, These guys
played very well and get very little
recognition.
The Trojans come back home to play
Dodge County this Friday night. The
Indians have a 2-1 record. They
defeated the Perry Panthers 7-6 last Fri
day night,
Peach County had a good crowd in
Cordele last Friday night. Let’s fill
Anderson Field and show the Trojans
we’re behind them,
