Lesli Monique Burton, the dau¬
ghter of Mr. & Mrs. E.J. Junior,
Jr. of Byron, is the 1989-1990
recipient of the High O’Brian
Leadership Award.
A member of Trinity Baptist
Church in Fort Valley, Lesli is a
member of the Baptist Training
Union, the Youth Usher Board,
and the Youth Choir. In her spare
time, she enjoys playing the piano,
dancing, and participating i in
community activities.
The Hugh O’Brian Leadership
Award is given to the student who
possess outstanding leadership
ability and charisma in both school
and community environments.
This spring, Lesli will be participa¬
ting in a seminar concerning
leadership along with other recipi¬
ents of this coveted award.

The Marshaliville Garden Club
met Tuesday morning January 9,
at the dub house at 9:30 a.m.
The social hour being scheduled
first, delicious light refreshments
were served by the hostesses,
Alphrine Anderson, Flora Jean
Crook, and Jeanette Weikal.
The meeting was called to order
by Elizabeth Scheibert, president.
Minutes of the last meeting were
read by Eloise Hunnicutt and the
treasurer’s report given by Celetta
Grice. After al business was taken
care of and reports from all
committees given, Dura Stokes
introduced the speaker- Mr. Ste¬
phen Floy. Mr. Hoy is a resident of
Warner Robins and is Vice-Presi
dent of the Middle Georgia Rose
Society. He gave a very interesting
program on Roses: Their Develop¬
ment - Theii Future. Seventeen
members were present.
