'Good Turn'
Fort Valley United Methodist
Church Cub Scout Pack 59, Fort
Valley Civic League Pack 60 and
Troop 60 worked hard on November
17 gathering food donations by the
citizens of their neighborhoods in
the Scouting for Food "Good

Part of the Scouting life includes
doing a good turn daily and these

Ga. Forestry
to hold
vendor
workshops
The Georgia Forestry Com¬
mission is conducting its annual
workshops for forestry vendors at
three locations during the last week
in November, according to Frank
Green, reforestation forester.
The vendors are individuals or
companies that specialize in plant¬
ing forest trees. The names of those
attending are added to the Recom¬
mended Vendor List that is provided
to private landowners who seek re¬
forestation services, Green said.
Approximately 350 vendors are
presently on the list
The workshops, conducted
from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., are being
held November 27th at the Walker
Nursery at Reidsville, November
28th at the Morgan Nursery at By¬
ron, and November 29th at the
Flint River Nursery at Byromville.
The vendors are given a tour of the
Commission's nurseries and an area
is set aside at each location for field
demonstration purposes.
Green said instructions are
given on seedling care, seedling
handling and technical guidelines
for proper nee planting. Representa¬
tives from several companies that
manufacture tree planting equip¬
ment are on hand to give advice to
vendors who have specific questions
or problems concerning their me¬
chanical planters.
Green explained that the vendor
workshops will ultimately be of
significant benefit to all landowners
who want qualified persons to plant
their trees. He said the list of rec¬
ommended vendors is available at
all Forestry Commission offices
and county unit headquarters.
