VFW Auxiliary donates tree to the nursing home
The ladies of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary decorated a
tree with ribbons and flags and donated it to the Fort Valley Health
Care Center for the residents to enjoy. The Auxiliary members want¬
ed to show their support for the efforts of American troops in the
Persian Gulf War.

Media should show for the war
Dear Editor:
At a time when the men and
women in our armed forces are fac¬
ing their greatest test, we at home
are facing a test as well. Our test is
to maintain our unity and resolve,
as our troops are doing in the Per-

years with her boyfriend (first in
her life, not God). One letter
between August 11 and today. She
feels he failed her. Through her
faith she knows that God will never
fail her. Please pray for her spiritual
growth.
"Momma's Pudding" - He shares
good knowledge with all of us. A
valuable member of the family.
"Tanker" - Claims that he would
rather spend a complete day with a
tank than to receive a million dol¬
lars. I believe him.
"Colonel" - 26 years in the Army;
three or four tours in Vietnam.
Bears the burden of over 3,000 sol
diers on his shoulder. He asks for
prayers.
Those are just some of them. We
all wish for your prayers now and
when we return back to family and
friends. TluMjansition won't be
easy.
We all take everything in life for
granted. Our families are included.
I am thankiul that the Lord brought
me into the world to such a great
mother, brothers, sisters and all.
They know my heart and how 1
feel. God Bless them.
This other guy I know, has a 33
year old soldier working for him.
Mother and daddy deceased. One
brother who is here also. Both sin¬
gle. I had someone to call today.
This guy always stays in his tent
come time to make a phone run. I
hate to see him when we go and call
home, I know how blessed I am to
have loved ones to call. But I know
that my God, who is "Good" has
given him the strength that he
needs.
I am really beat. 14-20 hour
days aren't easy. I want to make one
more trip and sit with my guards for
about a half-hour. Life as a leader
of soldiers! Wouldn’t have any other
job in the world.
I guess that 1 am rattling off
because it has been so long since I
last wrote. And you know how
friends talk w-hen they come togeth¬
er. What I really wanted to tell you
is that I am okay! The Lord pro
vides!
My heater is almost out of
kerosene. It s only about 40 degrees
tonight. That's warm as of late. We
have had some terrible luck with
rain as of late. I pray that all of have
returned home before it gets warm
again.
Gotta go! I must make the trip
to the guard point. And then into
my sleeping bag. Thanks for your
unwavering support and prayers!
God Bless You! God Bless
America!

competition recently. The awards
were for brochures that the agency
designed and produced for The

Eyesight Associates of Middle

In the competition held on Feb¬
ruary 16, at the Grand Opera House
in Macon, members of the Ad Club
of Central Georgia vied for awards
in the print and broadcasting media.
Donna Patterson, creative dir¬
ector of the agency, and Ann
Walton, principal, both received
plaques for the design of the win¬
ning entries. "We are delighted to
receive recognition for our work
and for our clients in our first com¬
petition," said Walton. "This en¬
courages us to enter more pieces for
competition next year," she added.

saddened to see the media give so
much attention to the small number
of anti-war protesters who have
sprung into action. It seems that
every time a few protesters pick up
their signs, the cameras swarm
around them, and they end up on
the news.
Our soldiers have said that they
gave a job to do and are going to
get it done. I feel I have a job to do,
too. And that's to stand up in
strong support of our troops.
