Harris warns litterers
In Peach County. Magistrate
Court last week, Judge George W.
Harris issued warnings to several
persons charged with violating the
county's litter ordinances.
No fines were levied, however,
warns wildfire season
'isn't over yet'
Recent Rains have prevented
the usual outbreak of forest wild¬
fires in many sections of the state,
but the Georgia Forestry Commis¬
sion warns that low humidities and
high winds can quickly dry out
woodlands and again create a poten¬
tial for wildfire.
"Several weeks remain in the
current fire season before spring
when green vegetation will reduce
the threat," said Wesley Wells,
Commission Chief of Forest Pro
tection. Wells urges all Georgia res¬
idents to report wildfire promptly
through the statewide dispatch sys
tern.
