Timothy Scott Swanson
Mr. and Mrs. Robert P. Hettema
of Fort Valley are pleased to

forthcoming marriage of their
daughter, Gretchen Joyce, to Mr.
Timothy Scott Swanson of Dallas,
Texas, the son of Dr. and Mrs. Dou¬
glas Swanson of Minneapolis, Min¬
nesota.
The bride-elect is a graduate of
St. Paul Bible College with a
degree in elementary education.
She is a flight attendant for Ameri¬
can Airlines.
The groom-elect is a graduate of
Baylor University with a degree in
psychology. He is employed as a
physician's referral counselor for
Methodist Hospital in Dallas,
Texas.
The wedding will take place on
October 20, 1991 in the chapel of
Farmer's Branch Historical Park in
Dallas.

host camp meeting
The Allen Chapel A.M.E.
Church family invites you to
Campmeeting '91, Sunday, Octo¬
ber 13, 1991 at 3:00 p.m.. The
Rev. Elijah Smith, member of
Allen Chapel and pastor of Saint
John A.M.E. Church of Columbus,
Georgia will deliver the message.
Also, following our tradition, ser¬
vices will be held on Thursday and
Friday, October 10 and 11, 1991.
Thursday night's speaker will be
Rev. E.L. Clark of Davis Hill Bap¬
tist Church, and the Rev. L.E. Ross
of St. John Baptist Church will
speak on Friday. Dinner will be
served on the grounds following
services.
We especially invite all former
members and friends to come and
join our celebration to the Lord and
fellowship with one another.

annual bazaar
The Powersville United Methodist
Church will hold their annual Fall
Bazaar on Saturday, October 12,
from 9:00-2:00.
This year's Bazaar promises to be
an exciting event with the sale of
crafts, baked goods, plants, a rum
mage sale and the Country Store
featuring homemade items. Pro¬
ceeds from the sale will go toward
paying for the newly constructed
fellowship hall.

Austyn was born August 27 and
weighed 8 pounds, 1 ounce. Austyn
is happily welcomed by her sister,
Ashlyn, 3 1/2 years old. Her grand¬

Crackerland
Fair coming
to Howard
Fall means festival time in Geor¬
gia, and the Great Crackerland
Country Fair - one of the largest
two-day festivals in the mid-state
area- is once again gearing up for
its annual Fall show, Nov. 2-3.
Crackerland, an old-fashioned
country fair which first opened in
1980, has become the area's pre¬
miere showcase for some of the
finest artisans and craftsmen who
come to the small town in Taylor
County from throughout Georgia
and the Southeast to exhibit and to
sell all types of handmade crafts
and original works of art.
The festival is known for its pro¬
gram of popular entertainment.
This year's program features 12
clogging and square dance groups,
country and gospel singers, high
school bands and magicians. Doc
Johnson and his "Traveling Miracle
Medicine Show" will make an
exclusive appearance.
The fairgrounds arc located in
Howard, Ga. (10 miles west of But¬
ler in Taylor County) between
Columbus and Macon off US 80 on
Hwy. 96. The fair will be open
from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., Nov. 2-3.
Admission is S3.50 for adults, and
free for children 12 and under. Free
parking is available adjacent to the
fairgrounds.
College fair to be held Oct.
15 for college bound sr.’s
All college-bound high school
students and their parents or
guardians are encouraged to attend
the PROBE College Fair to be held
at Macon Mall on Tuesday evening,
October 15, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00
p.m. Representatives from over
200 colleges, vocational schools
and military branches will be pre
sent to discuss such as
coming festivities.
Rev. Wesley Jones, who recently
retired, and is now residing in
Byron, will be the guest preacher.
Rev. Jones’ parents are members of
the Wesley Chapel church.
The worship service will be at
11:00 a.m., with dinner on the
ground to follow.

Hardison Happy Hearts enjoy fall
luncheon and competitive scavenger hunt
The Hardison Happy Hearts held
their monthly meeting on Tuesday,
October 1 at the Fellowship Hall of
Hardison Baptist Church.
A potluck luncheon was held at
noon with Mrs. Anne Black and
Mrs. Arlene Cameron serving as
hostesses. They had decorated the
tables in colorful red and gold
placemats and candles. Floral
arrangements and scattered autumn
leaves completed the table decora
tions
President Eva Knowles called the
meeting to order and a drawing for
a door prize was held. Mrs. Lillie
Mae Cameron w'as the delighted
recipient. A devotional, provided
by Mrs. Essie Rowell, and entitled

I he Grace of Having Enough, was
enjoyed by all.
Entertainment was provided by
Rev. Craig Wilson, Hardison's
youth minister, in the form of a
scavenger hunt. A lively competi¬
tion between two competing teams
the "anvthings" and the "every
things ensued. The cveryones
were the winners, however, since
all enjoyed the lively exchange.
During the brief business meeting,
reports were delivered by Mrs. Eliz¬
abeth Moore and Mrs. Margaret
Tucker. Illness and birthdates
among the members were noted.
Plans were reviewed for an upcom¬
ing trip to Ashville, N.C.. Mrs.
