Christmas party
for seniors
set for Dec. 6
The Fort Valley Senior Citizens
Christmas Party is scheduled for
Wednesday, Dec. 6 from 12:30 p.m.
to 3 p.m. at the Senior Citizen Cen¬
ter in Fort Valley.
Last year a few wonderful ladies
got in their kitchens and made huge
pots of soup and heaping plates of
combread. Others made homemade
cookies and sweets. Some gave up
their lunch break from work and
came food. out and helped serve the
People of many denominations
and diverse backgrounds came
together for one goal; a memorable
Christmas party for the senior citi¬
zens.
This year’s party will be here
soon. As this community event is
on a volunteer basis, we are asking
for helpers. If you, your organiza¬
tion, or someone you know would
like to help; all support will be
greatly appreciated.
Items needed: Cookies, sweets,
soft drinks, bingo prizes and
helpers for assisting with bingo
cards, serving food or distributing
prizes.
Do you have a classroom of chil¬
dren They could make cards, orna¬
ments or even table decorations.
(Last year the Christmas cards the
kids made were some of the most
imaginative I have ever seen!) Do
you cook? You could bake a batch
of cookies. If you like to shop, pur¬
chase and donate some bingo
prizes. (The seniors LOVE to win
prizes at bingo!) Do you like to
sew? Scarfs, hats, blankets, just to
name a few of the items you could
make. Maybe you don’t do any of
the above, but would still like to
help. As I said before, your talents
will be used and ALL HELP WILL
BE APPRECIATED!
If you don’t wish to attend the
party but would still like to make a
contribution; you can drop off
wrapped/labeled (man or woman)
bingo prizes and food/drink items
at the Senior Citizens Center the
morning of the party.
