has Thanks and Share banquet
Peach Area Habitat for Humanity
recently held its Thanks and Share
Banquet.
More than 60 people attended the
banquet which was held at the
American Legion Hall in Fort
Valley.
Jacqueline Prater, director of
music at Peach County High
School, supplied the pre-dinner
music for the special event
Speakers for the event came from
Houston County, Macon County,
Flint River and Columbus. One of
the featured speakers was Carol
Gregory, Associate Director of the
Southeast Region.
Raymond Dollar was recognized
for his work and received the
Outstanding Volunteer Award.
The dinner was served by the
Fort Valley State College Habitat
Campus Chapter.

Georgia Governor Zell Miller has
awarded Peach County High
School student Jonathan Sanders a
Governor's Scholarship -• the high¬
est academic honor awarded by the
state of Georgia. "1 am very proud
of Jonathan Sanders for winning
the scholarship," Miller said. The
prestigious scholarship was award¬
ed to 761 outstanding high school
seniors from throughout the state
and can only be used at Georgia
colleges and universities.

Hunt Primary salutes its Volunteer
of the Month, Mrs. Denise
Edwards-Small. Since Oct. 2,
Small has donated over 41 hours of
time and service to the school. She
is the wife of Anthany Small and
mother of Sabastian and Samantha
and a licensed apprentice with
Edward Funeral Home.

Charlotte Marshall of Byron, has
been awarded a Child Development
Associate (CDC) Credential in
recognition of outstanding work
with young children. The creden¬
tial is awarded by the Council for
Early Children Professional Recog¬
nition in Washington, D.C.

Air Force TSGT James L. Barker,
Jr. has graduated from the Air
Force Noncommissioned Officer
(NCO) Academy at Keesler Air
Force Base in Biloxi, Miss. Barker
is a military training manager at
Keesler. He is the son of James L.
and Shelvie Barker of Fort Valley.
He is a 1980 graduate of Peach
County High School.

has graduated from basic training at
Lackland AFB in San Antonio,
Tex. Horton is the son of Danny
and Yvonne Horton of Byron. He
is a 1995 graduate of Peach County
Hogh School.

was listed on the Dean's List at
